Celebrate America with Special Independence Day Shows at the Disneyland Resort

We’re celebrating July 4th in a very special way at the Disneyland Resort! From July 1-4, guests can experience special nighttime spectaculars celebrating America. At Disney California Adventure park, we’ve got an all-new Independence Day “World of Color” pre-show which will run prior to each showing of “World of Color” and will combine video, water effects, lighting and fireworks to create a spectacular celebration of American independence.

At Disneyland park, guests can commemorate Independence Day with “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky.” This special fireworks show combines patriotic music with bursts of red, white and blue to celebrate the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Be sure to check the Entertainment Schedule or the Entertainment Times Guide at each park for show times.

Are you celebrating Independence Day at the Disneyland Resort?

  • Do we need special tickets for 4th of July, I have the military 3 day park hoppers?

  • Do we need special tickets to get in on the 4th? I have the military 3 day hopper passes.

  • Ooh, I can’t wait! We’re planning to spend all day on the 4th at Disneyland (I’ve heard that the park often reaches capacity and that if you leave, you may not get back in), and watch the special fireworks and we have reserved VIP seats for Fantasmic! that night. We may not get to see the “World of Color” preshow unless we get to the Paradise Pier hotel in time on the 3rd, because we’re supposed to have a park-view room!

  • The Flag Retreat is most meaningful. To hear the band play the Military songs and watch Veterans (young and elderly) and our current Military proudly gather around The Flag Pole and salute as The Flag is brought down to The National Anthem. WOW, it makes you so PROUD to be an American (o; Wouldn’t miss Retreat. I know Mr Disney would be SO happy to watch the Gentleman that has done Retreat for years. He really Honors those that serve, please THANK him. Job well done! Can’t think of a better way to celebrate our Nation birth!!

  • how many minutes is the pre-show? and it has fireworks in every pre-show?

  • Very cool to hear that World of Color is getting an Independence Day pre-show.

  • One of the most important parts of any Disneyland trip is to see the Flag retreat ceremony. I hope that the band and color guard including Ernie are there and that the vets are honored. My grandfather, a WW2 vet passed away in December and it was special to know that Ernie made a point to thank him for his service at Flag retreat the day of his memorial service. The honoring of our flag and our vets was the heart of Mr. Disney and may each day honor those who served and are serving!

  • I wish that we could be there. We were there in February and had a great time. I’m looking forward to our next trip which is likely a year away.

  • Great to hear that World of Color is getting a special addition this year! 🙂

About that….is the pre-show only going to be performed on July 4th, or will it be shown all weekend as well?

    • The Independence Day “World of Color” pre-show will run prior to each “World of Color” performance from July 1-4.

  • To clarify, in the past years Disneyland has shown an abbreviated version of the Celebrate America show on the days leading up to the 4th. But I would much prefer to be present for the complete show.

    Thanks!

  • Erin,

Will the full Celebrate America show be shown on July 1 – 3, or will the full show only be shown on the 4th?

I am trying to plan my weekend to see both, so any info would be appreciated.

  • We will be there and are really looking forward to spending our Fourth of July at Disneyland!

  • Will the Flag Retreat be performed as usual? One of my favorite things to do at Disneyland is watch the daily flag retreat as the Disneyland Color Guard salutes America and those who have served in the military. Truly something Walt would have loved!

    • Hello Darren,

Yes, the Flag Retreat Ceremony will continue to take place daily at 5:10 p.m. in Town Square.
