Alright, Disney fans! How excited are you that we have fewer than 60 days left until the start of the D23 Expo 2011? What are you most looking forward to? Presentations by the Walt Disney Studios? Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives? The latest information from Disney Parks and Resorts? Or finding out what’s “in store” for you at the D23 Expo Dream Store? There’s so much happening, it’s hard to choose just one.

So let’s kick off our Disney Theme Park Merchandise D23 Expo series with a behind-the-scenes look at “Remember… it all started with a Mouse.” As part of this year’s D23 Expo, local artist Noah was commissioned by Disney Consumer Products to create the iconic graphic celebrating this year’s themes. Noah has captured in exquisite detail the joy and laughter that comes from Walt Disney’s ever-familiar and contagious smile and has carefully selected a palette of colors that cleverly reveals this year’s celebrated film anniversaries including “101 Dalmatians,” “Alice in Wonderland” and “Dumbo.” Surrounded by color, the piece allows you to share in the spirit and magic of Disney animation while remembering that it all started with a mouse. Take a look!

Another exciting offering at this year’s D23 Expo will include a Live and Silent Auction, taking place on Saturday, Aug. 20. Those of you who attended the last Live Auction know just how exciting it was and how many different items there were to bid on. This year, expect to see experiences, tours, artwork, props and more on the auction block. I’ll definitely share more with you as details on these lots become available. You will need a separate ticket in addition to your Expo admission to take part in the Live and Silent Auction – do you really want to miss out on bringing home a piece of Disney magic?

Tip: Tickets to the D23 Live and Silent Auction are $45 and will be available to purchase on www.ArtofDisneyParks.com.

What else are you excited to see from Disney Theme Park Merchandise at the D23 Expo? The logo merchandise? Disney pins and Vinylmation? Art and collectibles? New merchandise debuts? Let me know in the comments.

  • I Loved Tim Rodgerson’s from last year. I have it hanging on my wall I think it is way better then this years. Noah is a great artist but his style is just not my cup of tea. Can’t wait for the Expo to see the rest of the merchandise.

  • I love Noah’s art for this year’s expo! Can’t wait to go and I will be buying an auction ticket, too!!

  • I’m really looking forward to the Parks and Resorts pavilion, and I can’t wait to see the arena presentations.

    • Hi Fred!
The Parks and Resorts pavilion was one of my favorites too! Wait… am I allowed to say that since I am from Disney Theme Park Merchandise? I meant the Dream Store was my favorite. Wink, wink.

  • If a couple is going to the auction, do they both have to purchase paddles? My husband is not going to be bidding against me (if he knows what’s good for him lol).
Can’t wait for the Expo! I will be happy to see you all there!

    • Hi Amy, space at the auction venue is limited and guaranteed only for registered auction guests. Should space remain, we will open up seating to non-registered guests. I would probably recommend buying a ticket, so that he is guaranteed a seat. Keep watching the Disney Parks Blog, we will be releasing details on the auction lots next month.

  • I actually like this better than last time, although the last one was nice it seemed a bit too busy. Since this one has Walt in it, I’ll be much more likely to buy.
Also, really love the logo for this one. Great job and looking forward to all the surprises!

  • I’m most excited about visiting the Parks & Resorts Pavilion! That was the big highlight for me in ’09, and it’s the reason why I bought a one-day ticket for 2011. I’ll also stroll the exhibit floor a bit and check out the Disney Archives exhibit upstairs. But it’s the Parks & Resorts Pavilion that has me excited to return to D23 Expo again!

  • I’m really curious what clothing items will be available by mail order soon. I’d love a few more D23 t-shirts & at least one or two more polos- ideally with different embroidery on them! (I bought a red one when they first came out but I haven’t seen any in my size [men’s XL] since I decided I wanted more). I just hope some new stuff will exist that is NOT branded “expo” since I can’t make it and therefore don’t want to wear something saying it explicitly…

    • Hey Craig! Here’s a little inside scoop. It doesn’t look like there are any polo shirts planned, but there will definitely be D23 Expo t-shirts and a zip fleece hoodie. But that’s not all, we have a lot of great apparel, headwear, pins and vinylmation items in store for you too. Keep watching the Disney Parks Blog over the next month, as we will be releasing more details on this year’s hottest D23 Expo items.

  • I love Noah’s work. He is amazing and I can’t wait until we all get to play at D23!!!!! So many artists to meet and people to see!
