I’m sure most of you know by now either from reading the Disney Parks Blog or visiting the Disneyland Resort, that the new entrance to Disney California Adventure park debuted just a few weeks ago. And I have to say it looks spectacular! A new entrance also means new stores… so I want to make sure that you have the latest and greatest information as we prepare for changes in the world of Disney Theme Park Merchandise.
Hop on board at Engine-Ears Toys before July 31. That’s right, in a little less than a week this “Engine-Ear” will leave its station and hit the tracks as we pave the way for an entire new set of stores set to debut in 2012. So for those of you who love to create your own Mr. Potato Head, you better keep an “eye” out and a “nose” to the ground so you don’t miss out. But I’ll be around to lend you a “hand” and tell you where you can find them.
That’s not all… on August 28, we will also bid a fond farewell to our friendly store location, Greetings From California. While we are sad to see it go, I assure you that the stores taking its place, set to debut next year, will be the hit of the street and the talk of the town. But you’ll have to wait a few more months to find out more.
While I know it seems like there are a lot of changes underway, I promise you that we have many great things “in store” in the coming year. I look forward to sharing these great offerings with all of you in the coming months.

Do you happen to know if the replacement for “Engine Ear” will offer more or less the same type of merchandise (toys, plush)?
Will the closing of Engine-Ears Toys include Bur-r-r Bank Ice Cream?
And is the Park planning to re-locate the Ice Cream store to another area while work continues on Buena Vista Street?
I’m still unhappy about all the changes going on. I loved DCA as it was. 🙁
@James from Channel Island: I don’t think that there is a plan for temp. relocation but you also can remember that there is the Paradise Peir Ice Creame Co. in Pardise Peir on the Boardwalk inbetween Seaside Treasures and Calfornia Screamin’. The new Ice Creme shop in Buena Vista Street will be named Clarabells…Interesting is that not the name of the one in Toontown?…

What is going to happen to the coin presses that were inside Greetings? Will they be relocated?
Excited to hear of more happening in the California Adventure side. Love both parks – but the board walk is now more fun than ever for all ages.
I have friends coming to DLR in September (from MA). They’re excited about the Mr. Potato Head toys. Should I pick up a box now, or will the new location be ready in September?
So, the question I have is what do you mean by summer 2012?
Will the potato head toys be moved to a different location or are they being removed all together? They are one thing that I enjoy going and playing with (even as an adult) and creating may different potatoes… It’s also been a huge hit with my family. Will these guys be gone for good? 🙁
Sad to see Greetings go… when I worked as a CM it was really sad seeing Farmers Market close (as i worked there) and now greetings? *sigh* :C will the new store still be as large as greetings and will the merchandise that is offered in greetings be available anywhere else in DCA?
Hope you guys would offer a selection of toys and stations at the new venue as well as a detailed shopping district. The plans seem good for disney’s california adventure.
I was super sad to see the Golden Gate Bridge go. It is such a recognizable sight. I guess now this will be Los Angeles Adventure instead of California Adventure. California Greetings was one of my favorite stores as well. I hope the redwood grove is staying, I love to go through there. Glad the Corn Dog Castle is back, even though they are not as big as they used to be, still the best corn dogs anywhere 🙂
As far as I have heard about this as a CM, the new stores will be similar to the ones that are already there, they are just getting updated to match the entrance, the new bridge, and the new theater that will be going in
I miss the parking lot.

I am guessing that you are trying to say that you never liked DCA because of the park’s various issues when it first opened?
That is exactly why DCA is going through an expansion right now, to improve the park.
They obviously cannot just get rid of DCA and put the parking lot back. All they can do is work to improve the park, which is exactly what they are doing.
Also, I really don’t understand why some people are so concerned, DCA is STILL going to be about California.
For example, Cars Land is supposed to represent Route 66.
After all, when designing the movie, the filmmakers took a trip on Route 66, and the town of Radiator Springs is directly inspired by the buildings, landscape, and people that they found along Route 66.
And when creating the land, the imagineers took their own research trip on Route 66, and that inspired a lot of new things for the land that were not even seen in the movie, as well as the inspiration for the food that Cars Land will have.
Can’t wait tosee the many changes to DCA , Going back in 2012 again with my daughter as I have been for the last 3 years, We make this our yearly father and daughter trip together, I too will miss the Golden Gate Bridge, Also looking forward to riding the new Cars ride,
Yes, it is a shame that the Golden Gate Bridge replica is being removed, but I am looking forward to the changes.
I was there yesterday. The construction walls are up, and the crews are busy. If some of you don’t know already, the towers and the cables of the Golden Gate Bridge are bye-bye. I’m sure the transition the the “Hyperion Bridge” will be a quick one. (My guess is that they’re going to “wrap” it with a false concrete covering. If any of you would like to see the real Hyperion Avenue bridge, it’s in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”. It is in the scene where Benny the Cab jumps up from the street and lands on top of it.
