This morning as the sun rose over Ko Olina, Hawai‘i, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa opened its doors and welcomed its first guests. Before sunrise, while the guests were still waiting, Goofy kept them entertained.
Disney Parks & Resort Chairman Tom Staggs was here to welcome the guests and celebrate the occasion. Among the guests he welcomed: Samson Mahi and his family from Waipahu here on the island. They had been selected as honorary first family of Hawai`i to participate in the untying of a maile lei to welcome guests into Aulani.
And – I am not making this up – less than an hour later, a rainbow appeared over the resort! Be sure to check back on the Disney Parks Blog as Aulani continues to take shape in preparation for its official Grand Opening celebration in September.

Double rainbow….so intense.
What does it mean?
Please tell me someone else gets that reference.
I wondered if it will have something like an Adventure’s Club in it? What kind of native island animals does it have?
I would love to see more photos! the resort looks amazing.
I would love to see more photos!
And that looks like my friend Jeff M. in the green shirt taking the picture!!
WOW! What a gorgeous resort. I can’t wait to be there next year!!!
Oh how I wish the rates were reasonable enough to make it accessible to the every-day middle class family!!!!
I, too, saw that rainbow over Aulani! I was driving my daughter to school and did not have a camera handy. It would have been a great picture. We are planning on walking over to Aulani this afternoon, perhaps for dinner? We watched Aulani being built these past years and we are excited to see it up close and personal! 8^D
Welcome Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and the whole gang! Hope you enjoy your vacation here in Hawaii!!
