Main Street, U.S.A., Restaurants to Expand at Disneyland Park

Tomorrow marks the start of very exciting expansion projects on Main Street, U.S.A., at Disneyland park. We’re getting ready to welcome a new bakery and looking forward to expanded space in some of our existing eateries.

The Plaza Pavilion at Disneyland Park

The expansion kicks off with the all-new Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. The bakery will be located on the current site of the Plaza Pavilion, which recently hosted the Annual Passport Processing Center. The new location will feature an expanded menu, as well as outdoor seating. When Jolly Holiday Bakery Café opens in January 2012, the Blue Ribbon Bakery will close to make way for the next step in the Main Street, U.S.A., project.

We’re also excited to announce that, for the first time in decades, Carnation Café will once again offer indoor seating to Disneyland park guests, increasing the total number of seats and giving guests more options for experiencing this iconic restaurant year-round. Carnation Café will close for this refurbishment at the beginning of 2012 and re-open in the summer.

Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and the Candy Palace display kitchen will also be gaining additional space. The newly reconfigured ice cream parlor will create more room for guests purchasing the extremely popular hand-dipped cones, and a larger Candy Palace kitchen will allow even more guests to view magical sweet treats as they are created. These locations will close in January 2012 and re-open in the spring.

Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog – we’ll have more details on this project as it develops.

  • I hope they bring back Fantasia Ic Cream!

  • I hope the renovation will include a dedicated stage for the ragtime piano players. Hearing them play is always a highlight of each trip to Disneyland.

  • This is great! I am so excited, and this is definately not to be unexpected as there have been so many other bakery’s that have switched around Main Street since it opened in 1955! (Anyone remember Town Square Cafe? 🙂 I am definately loving the expansion of Gibson Girl and the new whimical sounding Jolly Holiday bakery!!

  • I love that the Carnation Ice Cream Parlor will have indoor seating! This is a great move! I thing the Mary Popins theme for e other bakery is also wonderful.

  • Finally – “Big doin’s” on Main Street and the Pavillion in particular ! I always thought that little area had big potential. I also hope as I’m sure the rest of us do, that the good qualities that the other restaurant/ eateries are known for will remain. Looking forward to the new changes !

  • Thor, the Matterhorn sundae is definitely still offered! My husband and I just shared one several weeks ago, although we did have to request it. We even got a pin for finishing it!

Speaking of food, we couldn’t find Cinnamon Crisps, AKA Elephant Ears, anywhere! A mid-morning latte and a Cinnamon Crisp from the Mint Julep Bar was a tradition! I hope the new bakery brings them back!

  • SOOO Excited for Jolly Holiday Bakery! Mary Poppins is seriously my favorite Disney movie! Please tell me we will be getting visits from Penguins in bow ties while ordering! haha!!

  • Erin, are you sure the Disneyland themed sundaes are still offered there? I don’t remember seeing them on the menu during our last visit, and we made it a conversation topic in the queue with others who remember the fun Matterhorn Sundaes, Space Mountain Sundaes, etc.

Maybe this is something on the secret menu that you have to know how to ask for with the CM working the counter?

I would love to see the fun and unique Disneyland themed sundaes return to the Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street! I’ve got my fingers crossed!

  • Are they just going to serve pastry/dessert type of items only there or is it going have more food options?
Love how the park is expanding on the menus finally and I also think a dining experience for Fantasmic rather than just the dessert option like the WOC has would be great also but I would suppose another fancier resturant would be needed for something like that to happen.
Can they put a resturant where the Tiki Room exit/Aladin meet and greet area used to be? (just some ideas)

  • I love the the eating facilities are getting expanded especially the ones on mainstreet. Lets hope that the next mainstreet expansion is to create an indoor “ARCADE” as in “an arched or covered passageway, usually with shops on each side” behind the eastern side of mainstreet.

It would definately help with crowd control during parades and fureworks. Disneyland would benefit to have one of these just like in Paris and i am sure it would increase traffic flow into the shops.

Next on the list should be expanding the river belle terrace, this location would be perfect as a two story eating establishment. The room seems to be there to make it work. Imagine the extra revenue that could be made in the evenings if second floor seating was available for Fantasmic viewing. Maybe that incentive could help budget an expansion 🙂

  • Speaking of Penny arcade, i wish they would try and locate all the old penny arcades that were removed and brought back to the resort. Paradise Pier and its new theme and era would be perfect for some of these old relics to return in some form. It would be great to even see them integrated into the boardwalk shops once they get freshen up to fit the rest of the changes

  • I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT I WILL MISS THE PLAZA PAVILLION. I WAS AT DISNEYLAND LAST IN 2008 AND PLAN ON RETURNING THIS SPRING. HOPEFULLY MOST EVERYTHING WILL BE UP AND RUNNING. YES, DO BRING BACK THE SPACE MOUNTAIN SUNDIE–DELISH!!

  • So excited for all the changes. Def will miss the Blue ribbon it was one of my fave places to get coffie, but still excited for the new Jolly Holiday. Also Im SOOOO glad the Gibson girl and the cafe will get more seating.

  • While you’re at it, please bring back the Fantasia ice cream. There’s nothing like it anywhere and it was soooo… good!!!

  • Well we watched a family enjoying a giant sized sunday in the Carnation Cafe just 4 days ago, so they do indeed still have them!! If we were not so full from the awesome food we’d just had, we would have attempted one ourselves 🙂 I trust the Jolly Holiday will be serving the same amazing lattes etc. as is served now in the Blue Ribbon? and by the way, the matterhorn macaroons are to die for!!!

  • Blue Ribbon has great lattes & pastries….I’m sure Jolly Holiday will also. It’s been way, way too long since my last visit:(

  • Bring back the Fantasia ice cream !!!
