Moms Panel: If I Had Two Hours at Walt Disney World to Make a Lifelong Memory I Would…

Walt Disney World Moms Panelist Disney Dad Jonas Lehmann Karp still remembers his love of Monorails from his single digit days! His grown up dream is even better!

Monorail at Walt Disney World Resort

“I’ll never forget the wonder I felt as a five-year-old at Walt Disney World Resort watching the Monorail pass right through the Disney’s Contemporary Resort. This wonder never went away. So two hours at Walt Disney World Resort would give me enough time to ride all three lines and 15 miles of the Monorail system. I’d hop off for quick stops at Disney’s Contemporary Resort to marvel at the lobby’s 90-foot mural created by Disney Legend Mary Blair, jump off again at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa to window shop, and lastly I would visit Disney’s Polynesian Resort for a cup of joe. The last stop on my Monorail ride would be at Epcot. I’d treat my family to kaki gori ices outside the Japan Pavilion in World Showcase (strawberry for me!).”

What is your most magical and favorite mode of transportation at Disney Parks? Let me know in my comments section below!

  • My favorite mode of Disney transportation is a Doom Buggy. 🙂

One reason we always stay at the Polynesian is so we can always be close to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot monorails. There’s no better way to travel to the parks in Disney World.

  • Great story! The Monorail has always been my favorite too! Like Jonas, I will never forget that first time, as a 10 year old, that I rode the Monorail as it passed through the Contemporary. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. You know what? I still think it is the coolest thing in the world!!!

  • Nothing better than staying at a Monorail resort!

  • Dude. We totally need to get some coffee at Kona Island. I’ll even treat you to a follow up Dole Whip at Captain Cook’s. Best monorail stop EVER.

  • I’m with Jonas! Monorail all the way–especially if you are STAYING at a monorail resort! Nothin’ like being dropped off at your doorstep!

  • Favorite mode of transportation…monorail, hands down! However, when we stay at an Epcot resort a close second is walking the river stream path from Beach Club to Epcot.

  • I love the boat system that takes you from the Fort Wilderness to Contemporary…Magic Kingdom, to Grand Floridian and finally the Polynesian. When we do our grand trip (2 weeks, usually in December) we do the 2 credit dinner shows, and take multiple evening trips to Magic Kingdom.

Once, we took the boat ferry back to the Polynesian late after spending time at Fort Wilderness for the Hoop-dee-do. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the Magic Kingdom had begun their presentation of Wishes while on the boat. Since it was late, and it was just us and one couple celebrating their Anniversary, the Captain slowed the boat down to a crawl so we could enjoy Wishes on the water.

Since then, the boat is my favorite mode of transportation. It doesn;t help that I grew up on sailboats since my Grandfather was in the Navy.
