Behind the Scenes: Walt Disney Imagineers Develop Dumbo for the Disney Fantasy

“What’s more ‘Fantasy’ than a flying elephant?”

That’s the thought that inspired Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) to select Dumbo and his pal, Timothy Q. Mouse, as the characters who will represent the new Disney Fantasy cruise ship.

Check out the video below (shared by WDI), in which Imagineers Joe Lanzisero, Bob Zalk and Jason Abruzzese offer a behind-the-scenes look at how the new Disney Cruise Line ship’s icon came to life.

  • I’m glad Dumbo will be in the Fantasy; his defenatly one of all time classic favorites. It’s fun to see the imageneers look so exited of their work in the video.

We’ll be admiring their work in The Fantasy on Dec 29th 2012 NYE Eastern Caribbean Cruise and enjoying the very luxurious ship.

I wander if we’ll be seeing Dumbo walking around the ship too ?

  • So excited. We will be on the maiden voyage and it will be #51 on Disney for us. We also did all the other 3 maiden voyages .

  • The Imagineers are outstanding. This video inspired me to further explore the offerings of the Disney Cruise Line – there are so many wonderful trips waiting to be taken. I was pleasantly surprised to see the addition of a Canada and New England coastline cruise as well!

  • Awwww… I’ll be seeing this in person next September!! Can’t wait!!!
