Last Saturday, Disney VoluntEARS celebrated National Family Volunteer Day by helping assemble 26,341 food boxes at the Orange County Food Bank for local seniors in need this holiday season.

That is 421 tons of food – a record for both the amount of food and the most food boxes assembled at the Orange County Food Bank in one day!

Created six years ago in partnership with the Disneyland Resort, the event has grown into one of the largest National Family Volunteer Day events in the country, inspiring employees from companies across Orange County to volunteer with their families.

More than 1,200 volunteers participated this year, including Disneyland Resort cast member Mary Cobb and her family, who are hard at work in this photo!

  • Kevin – I’ve tried looking for info on this before and came up dry. Wondering, how does one become a VoluntEAR? I’m a Disney die-hard and would love to share with the Disney family in giving back to the community. I talked to someone at Disneyland’s City Hall last month after hearing of another event and they said that VoluntEARing was for Disney employees only.

    • Hi Corey – Thanks for your interest in the Disney VoluntEARS program. This employee volunteering program is for current cast members, though most events are open to their friends and family as well. Just be sure you are signed up and accompanied by a cast member. Thanks!

  • The Disney VoluntEARS programs are great, the variety offered can fit into anyone’s schedule and volunteer flair. The National Family Volunteer Day at the Orange County Food Bank was great, took the whole family, even the youngest granddaughter (1 1/2yrs old)
