Taste of Disney – Passport to Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa

Hawai`i, with its distinctive culture and traditions that include the celebration of food, is the next stop in our “Taste of Disney” series of videos that take viewers behind the scenes to learn the secrets of the culinary world at Disney.

Hawai`i was one of the new and most popular Marketplaces around World Showcase Promenade at this year’s Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. While we try not to be biased, the Kalua pork slider was a favorite and had us returning time and again … tender pork, spicy mayo and a dollop of sweet pineapple chutney was the perfect combo on mini-bun. And we heard plenty of other guests saying the same. (Kalua, by the way, refers to the method of slow cooking in banana leaves.)

My daughter Katie talked with Chef Jens Dahlmann at the festival while I was across Walt Disney World Resort at Disney’s Polynesian Resort learning some tips on how to bring a bit of Hawai`i (and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa) to your own back yard. Take a look, and check out the recipe for the pork sliders – did you try them at the festival?

  • Definitely need to get to the Food and Wine festival next year. Hope to see Hawai’i there. My kids are begging us to go to Hawai’i but until then we will need to make some Leis at home. I know how fun it was to make when I was a kid.

  • Pam & Katie, a great informative video as usual. The food and beverages look so appealing! Mahalo!
