Landscape of Flavors at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World

“Better-for-you” options at five mini shops serving breakfast, lunch and dinner is the overarching theme of the new Landscape of Flavors food court still being tweaked for Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, opening in May. The new restaurant will be adjacent to the lobby.

'Better-For-You' Options Will Be Available at the Landscape of Flavors Food Court at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World

“The idea is that you customize your choice,” says Chef Ed Wronski, Director, Food & Beverage Concept Development, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “From burgers to pasta, salads, ethnic flavors, omelets, even parfaits and gelatos, everything is made fresh as you order.”

There’s a big focus on beverages, too. Fresh fruit smoothies are made to order, ditto for lemonade and pomegranate limeade. They’re stocking organic teas, beer (including gluten free), wine, coffee and juices. You can get a plain cup of coffee or a French vanilla or mocha iced. And half bottles of wine are paired with cuisine from the food shops.

We got a sneak peek at the menu, and here are some of the highlights:

  • The Soup-Salad-Sandwich Shop lets you create your own salad (with beef or chicken) and offers a caprese sandwich with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes on focaccia, or a Buffalo-style turkey sandwich with arugula and a blue cheese-Buffalo sauce-mayo spread. Both are served with delish house-made potato chips.
  • The World Flavors Shop adds Indian-African flair to breakfast, too, with scrambled eggs, tandoor potatoes, Portuguese sausage, slab bacon and a mini-naan; or a veggie flatbread sandwich on naan with cauliflower, spinach and paneer. Lunch and dinner is a choice of tandoori chicken or shrimp, Mongolian beef with vegetables, mahi mahi, Portuguese sausage or roasted acorn squash served with sides and naan bread.
  • The Pizza Shop features make-your-own pasta, cheese and pepperoni pizzas and meatballs on ciabatta bread. Room delivery is an option, too.
  • The Burger Shop includes a breakfast burger with chicken breakfast sausage, cheese and scrambled eggs on a multi-grain bun, and a steak-and-eggs breakfast burger with a burger topped with fried eggs, cheese and bacon. Besides the traditional burgers, lunch and dinner includes a surf and turf burger with crab cake and fried popcorn shrimp, and a pastrami cheeseburger topped with pepper jack cheese and a slice of fried green tomato.
  • The “grab ‘n go” Market Shop offers drinks, yogurt, bagels, pastries, gourmet cupcakes, cookies and gelato.

The food court will be part of the Disney Dining Plan, details to follow.

  • We were among the first to book a Cars family suite (arriving in Dec) and we’re soooo excited. I was curious about what kind of food options it would have and I agree with another poster when they say it sounds like the one at Riverside. I am kinda hoping for a Pepper Market-esque layout, but that’s probably hard to emulate in a value resort. Still, the options sound scrumptious!

  • Cant wait, we are booked at this resort in a cars suite at the end of september!! this will be our 6th visit and the best yet!!

  • We are staying there in August. I can’t wait 🙂

  • Is this the continuation of Pop Century??? I have been to Pop many times since it opened and have been curious to know what the 21st century would look like (cast member had mentioned that’s what was being built). Or is this a whole new resort? Anyway, whatever it is I will be there also and probably as soon as it opens its doors!!! Love Disney….

  • Sounds great! will you be able to go over the bridge from Pop?

  • I am very curious about this new Value resort. We will be taking a three-generation vacation in May, 2013, and I think that two family suites would be nice. My husband and I plan to check out this resort when we vacation @ WDW in May, and are, hopefully, going to be able to be shown one. It sounds like Disney is getting away from the one-food-court idea of the original three value resorts. We stayed @ All-Star Music in December, and the food was surprisingly good. This has not always been the case. I especially liked the turkey breast dinner, while my husband enjoyed a pasta dish. My favorite Disney resort: Yacht Club. The Birnbaum Guide is absolutely right in “besting” this for the deluxe category. Ask for a water view corner room: slightly larger, and with a wall of windows in addition to the sliders & windows to the outdoor area. Great views! Looking forward to our upcoming 25th wedding anniversary and our stay @ Yacht Club!

  • We are staying at the Cars building in the Art of Animation the end of Oct. Can’t wait! With the food plan this will be great with little ones!

  • This is so exciting! Linguica at a resort to top that all off!

  • I love that Disney is starting to offer more fresh food and healthier options. This menu looks great, but you should consider adding a tofu or bean option along with the beef and chicken on the create your own salad option, so vegetarians and vegans are able to dine here also. A black bean burger at the burger shop would also be a great option!

  • Sounds Yummy! I am always looking for ways to get my daughters to try new and healthy foods. Sounds like the Art of Animation resort will be our accomodation for our next Disney World trip!

  • Planning a stay it this resort for our big 2013 family vacay! We are all very excited and this sounds great!

  • Bless you Pam Brandon!
Fantastic! Healthy, low-carb options instead of the usual carby, sugary pasta and smoothies only options. Way to evolve for the better! 🙂

  • Sounds great! Bring on the Indian food – not just at this resort and not just one or two items!

Also, I hope that coffee is real and not Nescafe!

  • Will the Food Court have a “Theme”?
I enjoy All-Star Movies’ theming to look like a theater concession counter, Riverside’s to look like a country store, and French Quarter’s to look like a Mardi Gras storage warehouse. 🙂

  • The ‘Disney Dining Plan’ link isn’t working.

  • The food court sounds a lot like the one at the Port Orleans Riverside – one of the best on site. The “World Flavors Shop” sounds quite interesting. Great job offering quality food to all your guests!

  • Dear Ms. Brandon,

I love how Disney is always evolving to meet the various needs of its’ guests and this is just another wonderfully delicious enhancement on property.

    Congratulations!

    Sincerely,
    Jackie P.

  • Woo!! Thanks for the details, Pam! Will room delivery be the standard value resort pizza offerings, or will it include more options?
