The first day of spring is the perfect time to tell the story of the Disneyland Rose. The search for a rose unique and beautiful enough to be named for Disneyland park began in 2001. Karen Hedges, of the Disneyland Resort Horticulture team, conducted the search herself.
“I visited rose field trials looking at hundreds, if not thousands, of floribunda roses, as I’ve found this type of rose to be excellent for landscape use,” Karen recalls. “It was important that the flower color was unique and the shrub itself was from disease-resistant parent stock.”
Eventually, she discovered a shrub with bright, multi-colored petals.
“The huge clusters of flowers with petals ranging from apricot-orange to pink seemed a perfect choice,” Karen said, adding that the flower had a delicate spice fragrance. “This particular rose had impeccable lineage and would stand the test of time.”
For nearly nine years, the Disneyland Rose has been gracing the entrance to Disneyland park near the Main Gate turnstiles, as well as several other areas in the park. Spring is here, so be on the lookout for this unique and beautiful bloom on your next visit!

“You can learn a lot of things from the flowers, for especially in the month of June…..”
That is so pretty! Are there any of these in WDW?
I love this rose! I bought one a few years ago from my local nursery. Now I can enjoy it in my own garden! It has the most beautiful colors!!
I love the Disneyland Rose! Please put it on more merch and pins!!!
I bought my Disney rose as a bareroot plant the first year it was out. It’s a beautiful rose and I look forward to it blooming every year. Now I can enjoy it at home as well as at the park.
For Valentine’s Day my husband bought me 6 Disneyland Rose bushes from J&P and planted them in our front yard! So we have our own touch of Disneyland on our 20 acres 🙂
We also purchased Disneyland roses from J&P. They are always beautiful and very easy to take care of.
I bought this at my local Orchard Supply & Hardware several years ago and can’t wait for it to bloom every year!
I have this rose in my front yard. You can purchase it through Jackson & Perkin’s website. It smells great and the roses grow in clusters.
We bought some of these from the official provider many years ago for my mom’s Mother’s day gift. they are STILL blooming. It too has been about 8 years.
I’ve always wished this rose were available for sale, if not in the parks, then through a partnership with a nursery chain. It would be such a great way to bring a little bit of the magic home!
