We have some great news to share today! Starting May 3, we’ll be rounding up some good times and bringing a whole new energy to Frontierland at Disneyland park with the opening of the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree.

Cowboy Mickey

Encompassing the former Festival Arena site, the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree will feature music, dancing, crafts, pin trading and plenty of Disney characters in their finest Western wear. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we’ll be throwing a good, old fashioned Hoedown, where you can kick up your heels with the likes of Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Chip ‘n Dale. From time to time, classic favorites like Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow, Clara Cluck or those silly Country Bears might even stop by!

What’s more, Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree is also going to be the newest spot to catch visiting performing ensembles as part of Disney Performing Arts. Disney Performing Arts provides an opportunity for middle and high school students and community groups from across the country to perform in Disney Parks as well as take workshops taught by entertainment professionals to improve their performance skills. You’ll be able to enjoy some of these young instrumentalists, singers and dancers as they put on the performance of a lifetime onstage at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree.

  • awsome. one question thought will the Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow, Clara Cluck or The Country Bears be out for character greetings?

  • Tim from OR,
    What is Discovery Bay???

  • is there a blog or area to look in to see if there are any pre events, etc for annual pass holders prior to the June 15th opening, we would really like to go!

    thanks

  • I would love to see this expanded to more days during the week. With Cars Land opening this summer the resort is going to be packed, and having another attraction to absorb some of the crowds would be a great thing!

  • Hi, everyone! It’s great to see you’re all as excited about Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree as I am. It’s sure to be a lot of fun. To answer some of your questions, this is expected to be a limited time offering, through summer 2012. The location opens Thursday, May 3, and then will continue on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through the spring, with the possibility of expanding to more days during the summer months. You’ll want to check the park schedule close to the time of your visit for specific dates and times. Thanks!

  • I’ll be there for the Country Bears!

  • This sounds great, and like a lot of fun!

But could we have Discovery Bay in this area, instead? 🙂

    Tim.

  • Is this a weekend thing? All of May? What are the dates? And yes love the Country Bears!

  • You do also know that May 3 is a Thursday? And why is not in park schedual yet?

  • Will this be added to the regular schedual or is this just a summer event?

  • I’m very excited about this! I was wondering how long this is scheduled to be there.

  • How long will this last? May 3rd till ?

  • I have a question and am in need of clarification. So will the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree and all it’s surrounding activities, character meet and greets, etc. ONLY take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays? Or will all those things take place everyday with additional special performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays? I just want to make sure that I plan the days out for my vacation accordingly so I don’t miss this Jamboree. Thanks.

  • Sounds like fun!

I’ll be coming down to DL in June and I hope that this event will still be taking place. Will it be there then?

  • Is this the area where we ate at the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ??

    • Laurie Lee, it’s actually located between Big Thunder BBQ and Fantasyland. Originally called Festival Arena, the area was once home to a show inspired by Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame.”

  • Very cool!

It will be great to have the old Festival arena location get regular use again, and great idea to have the Country Bears stop by!
