From ‘Cars’ to Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park

I highly recommend watching the Disney•Pixar film “Cars” before you visit Cars Land at Disney California Adventure park. It will refresh your memory of all the charming details of Radiator Springs, from the blinking light in the middle of town to Luigi’s Leaning Tower of Tires outside his shop. Watching it in 2D will do two things: 1) remind you of how lifelike Pixar animators made Radiator Springs look through animation, and 2) enhance your appreciation of how Imagineers made Radiator Springs a reality. Watch this video and you’ll see what I mean.

Tune in to the Disney Parks Blog Wednesday, June 13, at 8 p.m. PT for a LIVE webcast of the Cars Land Media Event! And keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog and Disney California Adventure park on Facebook, and follow @Disneyland on Twitter for complete coverage of all events this week at Disney California Adventure park! While you’re on Twitter, join in the conversation by using the hashtags #CarsLand, #BuenaVistaStreet, #MadTParty and #JustGotHappier.

  • This is great! I remember watching the live-stream internet broadcast of the opening of Animal Kingdom back in 1998. It makes me happy that Disney fans now have the Disney Parks Blog where we can watch these types of special events! …and with much better quality than we had in the 90’s:)

  • I attended the Disney Vacation Club Member preview on June 10th. LOVED IT! Prior to our trip, as more and more details were released about Cars Land I continued to be amazing how the Imagineers brought Radiator Springs to life in full detail. I cannot recall another occurence in which a place inside a Disney film was replicated to exact detail in the way of Cars Land.
Before leaving for our trip we did not know if we would be able to attend the preview. I changed my Facebook cover image to a side by side image I made showing “Cars” the movie on one side and then a shot of Cars Land next to it. The detail is astounding.
I must also say, bravo on the food and Flo’s V8 Cafe. I had the veggie tater bake (becuase of the Blog posting a few weeks ago) it was soooooo good. And everyone else in the family loved their food.

We hope to be back again soon… KA-CHOW!

  • Thanks Valarie! I’m looking forward to watching the live webcast of the grand openings. I’ll be visiting the park just before the fourth of July and I can’t wait to check out the new areas. It would be awesome if the blog was on Google+ as well. =)

  • Cars is played pretty much every day in our house! My 2 1/2 year old is crazy about McQueen, Mater & the rest of radiator springs! I got married in Feb this year and we have waited for Cars land to open befor taking our honeymoon! We live in Perth Australia – we will be arriving in LA this sunday then heading straight for Radiator Springs monday morning!! We are all so excited and can not wait to see it in real life. Thank you for all the information you have been posting on here – it really does help when planning the trip of a lifetime 🙂 See you soon Lightning!!

  • I was one of the lucky winners of the Cars Land preview on June 11th. My family and I entered through the Paradise Pier doors and experienced a WOW factor. The scenery is spectacular!

We loved, loved, loved the rides. We “square danced” in the Mater Jamboree vehicles, tilted and turned as we rode on Lugi’s Tires and tossed giant beach balls around, and then we climbed into a Radiator Springs race car, drove through the town and raced another car to the finish line.

I predict a total success for Cars Land! Oh, Buena Vista street is pretty great too!
