Whoever your favorite Disney characters may be, my bet is that cast member David Mitchell can sketch them for you. David creates custom sketches inside Disneyana at Disneyland park, and watching him work is pure magic! See for yourself in this installment of Every Role a Starring Role.

  • I wish that was my job. I love drawing, and I love Disney, so it would be a dream come true to be able to draw Disney characters for a living!

  • Are there any places to buy sketches like this in Disney World?

    • You can find custom sketch artists in Art of Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Art of Disney in Downtown Disney Marketplace and various other locations throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

  • You would think his job was a bit more sketchy?

And isn’t there a sketch desk over at the watch shop on Main Street?

  • Will the Disney Sketch artists draw Oswald yet? Im curious if I can get a sketch with Oswald on my next visit to the parks.

    • Yes – Oswald the Lucky Rabbit sketches are now available at Off the Page in Disney California Adventure park.

  • I want one for my wedding anniversary next year. What a neat memento of our trip 🙂

  • We had David draw a sketch for our niece last year for her 16th birthday and she loved it! The sketch desk in the watch shop is only for artwork used to make custom watches (we’ve got one of those too!). The prices are very reasonable, considering you get one-of-a-kind original artwork.

  • Each trip I love buying a sketch or two of my favorite characters, especially the villains, however they have removed so many of the options from WDW’s sketch books. Only a few sites (Downtown Disney and Epcot) will do all of the old ones, but the rest (especially Hollywood Studios, where I buy mine) only have a very limited selection. Also, from the video here, it looks like Disneyland has an even bigger assortment to choose from, please bring back the full book to WDW – and keep up the awesome work!

  • @Anne – I’m pretty sure there’s a place in every park (except Animal Kingdom) in Disney World. There’s even one in Downtown Disney! Just be on the lookout. They’re usually in the art shops…

@Zach – I honestly think that the characters available are different based on the artist drawing them. A couple of years ago, I was looking for someone to draw Fawn, but the artist in Epcot didn’t have her picture in his book, so I went to Guest Services and the man there was able to locate an artist for me. That is probably the quickest and easiest way to get it done.

  • This is something I’d love to be able to order online and have sent to us.

  • So glad to have found this feature on David as I was the one (along with my wife) appeared with David in this feature. David is an incredibly talented yet very humble individual who we were thrilled to have met on my 50th birthday. As Florida residents who often go to Walt Disney World, I’m thrilled to learn that these wonderful souvenirs are also available at the Orlando parks. Thanks to Disney for making my birthday so special!!

  • I saw Jedi Mickey!

  • Do you have a price range for these sketches?
