We gave you a peek at the new “Glow With the Show” Ears just after they debuted at Disney California Adventure park on June 15, and today we’re back with more details on these new, magical ears. You already know guests can “Glow With the Show” at “World of Color” – did you also know they will activate at Mad T Party and inside Cars Land? Come take a look with me and Disney California Adventure park Vice President Mary Niven in the video below.

  • I love a good set of Mickey ears as much as the next Disneyphile, but are there any plans by chance for other “Glow with the Show” clothing/accessory options such as a ball cap? Just curious…or maybe even a pin trading lanyard or pin for that matter? Thanks for any additional 411!

  • This is amazing! Would be really nice to have something like this at WDW, maybe to go with The Magic, The Memories, and You show or the Main Street Electrical Parade. Thank you for sharing this video with us Erin 🙂

  • Erin– any chance we will see these soon at Walt Disney World? Please please please!!

  • I was a part of this yesterday, it was amazing!!! I couldn’t believe how accurate the lights syncs with every thing!

  • I had no idea that it worked in Cars Land. i’ll have to check it out next time i’m there. The AP event was amazing, I made sure to have my camera with me to remember it. It’s kind of sad that we won’t experience it that way again (since the entire audience won’t have a hat)

  • I’m so bummed I missed out on the AP previews. I love these new ears, but I doubt I’ll ever get to see a sea of these ears in the crowd. It’d be nice if you guys gave those with the new Mickey ears a special viewing section during WoC or held occasional showings for those with the Glow with the Show ears. It’d help add to the show and entice more people to buy the new ears! 😀

  • This is a very cool idea. I hope that park guests catch on to these.

  • Erin,

Is it possible to find out more about the underlying technology for the ears? I am a technology writer as well as a Disney fan and would love to hear more about this!

    Thanks,
    Adrienne

    • Great question, Adrienne! Let me see what I can learn about the magic behind the “Glow With the Show” Ears. Stay tuned.

  • Love the idea for the glow with the show ears! Any plans for additional designs? Maybe some “glow” ears that are a little more traditional and use the classic black hats?

  • What sort of batteries do the ears take when they need to be replaced? I plan to buy some this weekend and use them MANY times over and over again 🙂

    • Amy – They take three AAA batteries.

  • I found us!! It was kind of easy since we were right behind you 😉 I hope people take part in the glow with the show experience so that everyone has the opportunity to witness a sea of ears all in sync. Thanks for the opportunity Erin, Have a Magical week.

    • Thanks for letting me watch the show with you, Pam! 😀

  • Are they planning to get anything like this at WDW in Florida?

  • Yes, I had the best time ever at this event..Thank you Disney, now I can GLOW everytime I enter DCA…..

  • So the ears can sync up if you touch them together? Any more information on that feature? First I heard of it.

    • Yes! Just touch two pair of ears together, and they will sync up. You can walk around all night with matching ears! 🙂

  • Looks like we’ve come a long way since those big, bulky 1/4″-thick pins that were supposed to light up with the 100 Years of Magic celebration in ’01 (seriously–it was like wearing an iPhone on your lapel).
An ear-hat’s much more manageable and stylish to wear, and if they’re designed for the outdoor events, they won’t go off in the middle of the dark rides like the Pins used to. 🙂

  • This was so amazing to experience in person! The AP preview show(s) was truly a special event. Love the new ears! Loved the special event! Loved being surrounded in a sea of color. It was so well executed – both creatively and by all the cast members working the event. I can’t wait to see where else this new technology pops up… A special holiday version to accompany ‘Believe in Holiday Magic’ might make me cry 🙂 **applause**

  • Disney is going to make a bajillion dollars on this. Great concept!

  • It was incredible! Love our new glow with the show ears!
