As the saying goes, “Everything is bigger in Texas!” If that’s true, I cannot wait to see the excitement of the Lonestar State when the Disney Magic arrives to Galveston in September.
Captain Mickey already received a Texas-sized welcome when he visited last week to get ready for the ship’s arrival. Check out these photos of him in Austin, joined by Cruise Director Clayton, in the KEYE-TV newsroom with anchors Erica Harpold, Mileka Lincoln and Hunter Ellis and meteorologist Allison Miller.
You saw how enthusiastically New Yorkers greeted the Disney Magic when she sailed into New York City – and we’re looking forward to an even bigger greeting from Texans next month! Plus, if the Disney Magic donned the world’s largest bumper sticker to show love for New York, I can only imagine how the ship will show love for Texas…
Texans, how will you welcome to the Disney Magic to your home?

I’d LOVE to take my grandson on a Disney cruise. My son went on one with his aunts several years ago & absolutely loved it! They told me (back then) that they HAD TO make him meet them for dinner b/c he was having so much fun with all of the kids’ activities! I can only imagine how fabulous their cruises are.
OMG, my family LOVES Clayton!! He was our cruise director when we sailed on the Dream in January 2012 and he was wonderful!!! Galveston sure is lucky if they’re got him on the Magic now!!!
How do you outdo a giant bumper sticker? I wanna see some giant longhorns on that ship!!
I am taking a half a day of vacation on Friday and driving to Galveston. Then getting up bright and early to watch her cruise in. Thinking of making a special shirt or just wear one of my many Disney shirts. Then I will proceed to check in and sail away on her inaugural cruise from Galveston.
According to Port of Galveston, the Magic is scheduled to arrive on Saturday, September 22nd, at 7am. This is subject to change —
Sailaway is scheduled for 5pm later that same day and i will be on that boat!!
I’m hoping to taking a cruise on the Magic once Spring Break comes around.
What day in September will the Magic arrive in Galveston?
Any special events planned around the arrival of the Magic? And is Clayton now the CD on the Magic!? Was hoping he was on the Dream since I’m sailing in Nov 🙂
Living in Texas, I have been thrilled since I saw the billboards about the Magic coming to Galveston earlier this year. I personally wish I had the time to be able to go on one of the voyages out of Galveston, but I just couldn’t pull it off this time. I’m hoping DCL goes out of Galveston again after it’s run this go around. The question posed in the blog post was how I’d welcome the Magic to Texas? On the day it arrives, I’ll probably be wearing as much Disney themed clothes as I can….probably a Classic Disneyland T-shirt, and my pin trading lanyard, and probably a pair of Mouse ears!
I’m sure it was posted elsewhere, but it would have been nice if the author had poster when (in September) the Magic was supposed to arrive? Maybe a link to another post or news, please?
Also, are there any special events planned for the Magic’s arrival?
I would guess it has less to do with proximity and more to do with Austin being the state capitol, otherwise why not just have the coverage air on Galveston’s local affiliate?
Just curious as to why they went to Austin newsrooms instead of Houston’s Newsrooms. We’re closer to Galveston then Austin is? Was just wondering. Can’t wait to save up enough money to go on the cruise. Love everything Disney and would love my first cruise to be with ya’ll.
