Magical Makeover for the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park

Starting today, it’s officially Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, and once again Jack Skellington has taken over the Haunted Mansion to create Haunted Mansion Holiday. Earlier this week, technical director Joe Peters gave us a tour as his crew completed the final touches on the 18-day transformation.

Here are some fun facts Joe told me about Haunted Mansion Holiday:

  • More than 400 flickering candles create the Mansion’s eerie nighttime glow
  • More than 100 jack-o-lanterns illuminate the exterior
  • 7,500 feet of fresh snow is used each year
  • At night, several guests have been able to spot Zero protecting the Mansion
  • All the iconic black ravens that appear throughout the original Haunted Mansion experience have been replaced by Vampire Teddies except for one – do you know which?

  • My daughter is 5 and has been to Disneyland during Christmas at 7 months as well as in May when she was 2 1/2 we are taking her and my 9month old next month for 3 days! We will be staying at the Disneyland Resort and she won’t be finding out until the DAY BEFORE!!! I can’t wait to see her reaction on the night before when Mickey and Goofey call her and tell her she will be celebrating her favorite holiday with them! All their grandparents are going as well as a surprise!!! I think I am more excited then she will be lol I love being able to do these fun things!! I have been every year since I was 4 and can’t wait to make these memories with my kiddos!

  • I want to thank all of Jack’s unseen elves!! Its always great to see all the new and different touches that get added each year!! Especially what the gingerbread house will be. I have loved them all, but I think my favorite was when it was Zero’s dog house. I still have my Zero dog bowl. It makes a nice cereal bowl.
    @Dave, Haunted Mansion Holiday runs through the holidays. I think until the first week of January.

  • Dave, Haunted Mansion Holiday stays up until just after the first of the year so you will get to see it! They really do an amazing job, it so much fun! I hope you enjoy it!

  • Haunted Mansion holliday is just awesome!!! It makes a great ride even better! Can’t wait to ride it in 41 day’s! And got to Mickey’s Halloween Party for the first time 🙂

  • This takes my favorite attraction and makes it even more amazing, I love it! Worth a trip to Anaheim by itself if you ask me. However, for Matthew asking about FastPass – I think it’s worth waiting in line for, especially at night, to catch a lot of the details in the queue. They really go all out with references to Nightmare Before Christmas.

  • Any chance we will see this come to Magic Kingdom in the near future? Looks awesome!

  • We always enjoy the hard work the CMs put into making this version of the Haunted Mansion!! This, the Candlelight Processional and the Christmas version of Small World are the best parts of the holidays at Disneyland!

  • I cannot wait to be there in 3 weeks!! It will be my first time to Mickey’s Halloween Party 🙂

  • Is FastPass available on the Haunted Mansion this year?

  • During the holidays, the raven can still be seen in the ballroom!
