Five years ago this month – in October 2007 – Disney officially announced plans for a major expansion of Disney California Adventure park, to include a new area called Cars Land. Now, five years later, this monumental expansion is complete and the Happiest Place on Earth is even happier! Here’s a look back at some highlights of the expansion:
- June 17, 2008 – Toy Story Mania! opens
- May 4, 2009 – Mickey’s Fun Wheel debuts
- June 11, 2010 – “World of Color” premieres
- June 3, 2011 – The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure begins taking Disney California Adventure park guests under the sea
- June 15, 2012 – The world of “Cars” comes to life with the opening of Cars Land
