What’s Your Favorite Dish? Trying All 29 Marketplaces in One Day at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

The fun is on the griddle at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, and there’s still time to enjoy the culinary adventures throughout the park before the event comes to a close November 12.

Half the fun of the festival is discovering new dishes in the 29 marketplaces. But what’s your favorite?

That’s the assignment I had on my recent trip around the Epcot culinary world. Whether it’s the subtle seasoning of the Kefta Pocket at the Morocco Marketplace; the volcano sauce on the Spicy Hand Roll at Japan; a smooth, fine Merlot from France; Griddled Greek Cheese at Greece or the wonderful selection of ales and beers at the Hops and Barley Marketplace, there’s a lot to please every palate. Rob, our Concerned Bystander, also makes a cameo in this video, but it seems his tune has changed just a tiny bit.

So, after experiencing all 29 marketplaces in one day, what was my favorite dish?

The Kalua Pork Slider (the chutney and spicy mayo are an unbeatable blend) from the Hawai’i Marketplace takes the top spot in my (very) unscientific sampling. Although the White Corn Arepa (AREPA!) from the Florida Local Marketplace was a close second. With the famous sweet corn from nearby Zellwood, Fla., it’s a tasty treat. (And if you order it, please shout “Arepa!” and you might get a reaction just like I did in the video.)

The best thing is that I received a special stamp at the Festival Center for visiting all 29 countries. (Although I might suggest visiting Epcot a few times before the event ends to collect all of the marketplace stamps!)

Let us know in the comments if you have visited all 29 marketplaces, or if you have discovered your favorite from this year’s festival. Arepa!

  • EPCOT STYLE!! Ayyye all the countries!

  • I was there last week for the second time & Still haven’t tried all of the booths! But so far, my favorites are: Cheese soup & spicy chicken sausage from Canada, Fisherman’s Pie from Ireland, & the Singapore Sling 😉 from Singapore.

  • Next year I’m spending an entire week at EPCOT. This was my first F&W and my favorites were
    Japan – Spicy Hand Roll
    Canada – Cheese soup
Desserts/Champ – Dark Choc Mousse with Chili/Salted Caramel
    Germany – Schinken Nudel
    Hawaii – Kailua Pork Slider

I can’t wait to go back next year.

  • Thanks again, Gary! Love your videos. Keep them coming. I still remember last year when you were in a cranberry bog. 🙂

  • That. was. awesome.

  • I visited all29 booths, took me 5 days, but I did it all by myself. Love the Griddled Cheese and the lamb chop, and the Dragon berry colada.

  • Kids can’t get enough of “Epcot Style!” Another masterpiece, Gary!

  • Where does one get that plate with the cup-holder built in? It looks fantastically convenient.

  • hahahaha epcot style!!! There’s so many good food here that I can’t choose one… but my most memorable ones will have to be the australian rack of lamb, mexican flan, japan beef sukiyaki, canada cheese soup and filet mignon, and france escargots! I hope I’ll be able to come next year!

  • My Top 5 were: pork slider (Hawaii), Le Cellier filet (Canada), ravioli (Italy), Mongolian beef (China), and spicy chicken sausage (Canada).

  • Epcot Style so cracked me up! Also, I thought that at 2:50 it looked like Spaceship Earth had cloud Mickey ears. 8(|:)

  • Gary – another great video! (Missing Australia though, mate!) Epcot Style!!

  • That was VERY entertaining. Tatooine, Death Star and “Epcot Style”…YES! My favorite 3 moments!

  • Gary, how can I get your job?!! I would love to travel around the world at Epcot’s food and wine festival! Also, “Epcot Style” made my day.

  • Gary you are hilarious, “Epcot Style” just made my morning. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year’s Food and Wine, you definitely inspired me to start planning my next vacation.

  • “Epcot Style” is now a thing. Now I have something to look forward to after sampling a few wines around the world!

  • If Rob doesn’t tone down his enthusiasm, he’ll be staring in the next video.

  • As a vegetarian I love TERRA!!! Thank you Disney for thinking of us! The past few years the Veg selections were limited and mostly desserts, this year Terra enabled my family to eat eat eat!

  • Being a FL girl, I just love everything at the Local Florida booth (AREPA!… indeed).
