Find New Fantasyland Pins at Disney’s Coronado Springs Convention Center on Dec. 6, 2012

I recently shared with you a look at some of the commemorative items that will be released at Magic Kingdom Park on December 6. One thing that won’t be found at Magic Kingdom Park that day will be the limited edition pins created for New Fantasyland. Instead, we will be holding a special release party for the grand opening pin collection that evening at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. This release party will take place in Room J at the Convention Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We will also be offering space for guests to trade pins (or Vinylmation if desired) during that time. We thought this would be a great way for guests to enjoy the magical grand opening of New Fantasyland in the morning then continue the celebration at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in the evening. I spoke with the Disney trading and merchandise events teams to learn what items will be released that night.

Celebrate the Grand Opening of New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park with New Limited Edition Pins

During this event, we will be releasing six individual limited edition pins, including the “I Was There!” pin. We will also be releasing a super jumbo-sized pin; a boxed pin set inspired by Casey, Jr.; and individual pins plus the complete boxed set inspired by Walt Disney’s animated classic “Dumbo.”

For Passholders, we will have three individual limited edition pins celebrating Be Our Guest Restaurant, Storybook Circus and Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid. Passholders will also find a limited edition sling bag (edition size 600) and a 24kt coin card (edition size 1,000). A valid Passholder ID must be presented in order to purchase these items.

The most important thing I learned is none of these items will be found in Magic Kingdom Park on December 6 as all quantities will be released at this event. If you plan on attending, guests may start lining up at the Convention Center beginning at 4:00 p.m. (the Resort will not allow guests to line up any earlier).

  • I love these pins! Sadly I will not be going to Disney till March 🙁 I am wondering if these pins will be available for purchase after December 6th? Or if not will there be new pins released and available for those who were not able to make it to Disney’s Colorado Springs?

  • Steven,

Is there any way for guests who can not make it to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort be able to purchase those pins through an online site?

Also, I saw that Disney Movie Rewards released a pin today on their sight for their customers to redeem, wwill that pin also be available and about how many will there be?

    Thanks!

  • Steven – Will the price for each item/pin be published before the event? Would just help with budget planning!

  • Steven, I have the same concern as Mark and Nancy. I know that you’re just relaying the information given to you, but, to be honest, you telling us that “the Resort team as kindly asked that Guests dod not form a line until 4pm” does not help to calm my worries that die-hard pin collectors and re-sellers will not follow the rules and line up way before 4pm.

Is there anything you can tell us besides the Resort team asking that nobody line up before 4pm to assuage our fears? Will there be Cast Members/security outside the Convention Center at Coronado Springs preventing people from lining up before 4pm? I mean, just because people can’t line up in the hallway of the Convention Center before 4pm, doesn’t mean they won’t try to form a line outside it. I just don’t want to follow the rules by not showing up to the Convention Center before 4pm only to find that I’ve already been shut out of getting any of the pins I wanted because people have already been lined up for hours even though they weren’t supposed to and broke the rules anyway. Thanks as always.

    • @Lauren – I’m sorry to hear of your frustrations. I offer some additional clarification based on my conversations with the merchandise events and Resort operations teams:

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will have security Cast Members in place starting early that morning. They will be in that area all day to ensure Guests do not form a line inside or outside until 4:00 p.m.

While we cannot prevent Guests from sitting in their automobiles prior to the line up time, Guests will not be able to form a line prior to 4:00 p.m.

We are kindly making this request out of respect for Guests who may be attending other functions in the Convention Center that day. Additionally, we want Guests to enjoy the grand reveal of New Fantasyland and the other new things opening that day like Test Track presented by Chevrolet.

For Guests who might arrive early unaware of the 4:00 p.m. timeframe, we have created a handout to give them that explains the designated line up time.

I hope this additional information is helpful.

  • Hi: Steven:

I also agree with Mark (Comment #14). Will they honor the “not in line until 4:00 PM” or let people hang around early. Like they do for the pin trading nights where people camp out at 9:00 AM.

    • @Mark and Nancy – I spoke with the merchandise events team who said that the Resort team has kindly asked that Guests do not form a line until 4:00 p.m.

  • Hi Steven,
    Thanks for the great info.
Do you know when Coronado Springs will be setup to handle the lineup? For the last Pin Trading Night the lineup started at 9am for the 4pm opening. I expect that people will be lined up all day for the pin release at 5pma

  • We’ll be there for opening day and staying for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. We’re annual passholders and would love those pins, but we won’t be leaving the park and the party to go stand in line for pins. Will any pins be sold at the party on December 6th?

    • @Tony – I’m loving Gaston’s Tavern! I think I need more antlers in my decorating at home. 🙂

@Teresa – I’m glad to hear you are going to the Party. My son and I had a blast a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, no pins will be released at Magic Kingdom on December 6. All quantities will be found at the release party at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort that evening. I wish I had better news for you. I do hope you enjoy the party. The cookies and hot chocolate were a hit with us!

  • I am loving these! Especially Gaston’s Tavern! I need these….

  • One more question, how will you verify the “I was there” will you have to produce a ticket or annual pass? How will you verify? Will you verify?

    • @Christopher – I don’t have any additional details for after the event. I know we will be releasing all quantities at the Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort event on December 6. Sorry. 🙁

@Robert – We will not be doing any kind of verification for the “I Was There!” pin. The pin will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis during the event like the other items being offered that evening.

  • I am with Michael– will they be brought to Magic Kingdom or elsewhere, assuming you don’t sell out at the event? I have had my eye on the jumbo New Fantasyland pin since you first announced it!:D

  • Since these are limited edition will there be a limit to the amount of each pin you may purchase at the Coronado release event?

For example when you do the RunDisney events you may only purchase 2 per registration, will that happen at the event too?

    • @Robert – From my understanding, our normal limited edition purchase policy for pins will be in effect for the event: Guests may purchase a maximum of two pins, per item number (style), per Guest, per day.

  • I have a question about the Annual Passholder 24k coin card. In the article, you said it was Limited Edition of 1,000, but in your comments you list it as LE 500. Also, when I clicked on the photo the coin card seems to read Limited Edition of 2012 (which would make sense with the Grand Opening being in the year 2012).

Can you please clarify as to what the exact edition size is for this item? Thank you.

    • @Scott and Lois – My fault! The correct total for the coin card is 1,000. I copied the number incorrectly. And now I’m making an eye doctor appointment 🙂

  • John – Can you clarify the edition size of the Passholder 24kt Coin. The image shows LE of 2012, but in the additional details it is listed as 500. Will only 500 of the 2012 be made available at this event and the rest available in the park later?

  • Hi Steven. When I was at the Trade Night in WDW earlier this month, they previewed all of the New Fantasyland pins for us to see. There was a hinged pin that included the Little Mermaid that was exclusive to DVC Members. Is that pin still being released for this Dec. 6th party? Are there any other DVC exclusive pins besides that one?

    • @Lauren – I recall that pin. It will be released at the Merry Member Mixers for Disney Vacation Club Members. The first once was held today at Epcot and the pin was released there. It will continue to be sold at the Mixer events until gone. We won’t have it at the Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort release party.

  • Unfortunately, I will arrive on Dec 8! 🙁 If there are any leftover pins from the Coronado Springs event, where will they be sold?

    • @Michael – Sorry to hear that you will be arriving after the release party. But great that you will be here for the holidays! At this point, I don’t have any information if or where items will be carried after the release party. We are releasing all quantities at the event on December 6.

  • Thank you so much for posting this! Looking forward to this event!

Just one thing there were other pins featured in the first article about New Fantasyland pins, are those part of the event? Or will those be at the Magic Kingdom?

    • @Jorge – You’re welcome! I hope this information is helpful. There will not be any pins released at Magic Kingdom on December 6. At the time I wrote the first article in September, we didn’t have final details on this release party.

Here are some additional details about the pins pictured above that will be released at the Coronado Springs Resort event:

  • Will the Reveal/Conceal New Fantasyland set and the Beauty and the Beast realm mystery set still be released on December 6th or will that be at a later date?

Will the other new pins being released on the 6th including the Piece of Disney Movie History pin also be available at this event?

    • @Tom – I’m checking with the pin team about the reveal/conceal set and Piece of Disney Movie History pin. They wasn’t called out on the list I was given for this article. Please stay tuned.

  • Those pins look amazing!!! I love collecting pin! I’m seriously going to have to collect all those!!!

  • I would have liked to see more pins of the little mermaid!! 🙁
