What would a circus be without clowns? At Storybook Circus in Magic Kingdom Park, our masters of mirth tickle your funny bone with a whirlwind of wackiness. Just wait until you meet boss clown Chuckles Buffoon McMonkeyshine III and his protégés, Whinny Horselaugh and Snort. Together, they engage in circus shenanigans, from classic calamities to clown calisthenics. They’re sure to have you in stitches!

Joining the Storybook Circus Giggle Gang is the Silly Saxtet, parading onto the circus grounds with their own unique twist on circus music standards, and featured clown Wowzer, a specialty performer who takes center ring and keeps his audience enthralled with amazing feats of thrills, chills and hilarity.

Inspired by everything from Walt Disney’s “Dumbo” to the music of Spike Jones, the Storybook Circus Giggle Gang also has its roots in the classic traditions of The Greatest Show on Earth. Several members of the ensemble are graduates of the famed Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College.

“I feel like I’m going back to my roots,” said Show Director Mark Renfrow, himself a member of the Clown College Class of ’83. “People are going to be really surprised by the Storybook Circus Giggle Gang. They’re just so approachable and fun. They really bring the whole circus area to life.”

The Storybook Circus Giggle Gang debuts this week, as part of the grand reveal of New Fantasyland!

  • Great pictures. I can’t wait to see this in person on my next trip to Walt Disney World. Thanks for sharing!

  • They are such a nice touch! Brilliant! That’s a lot of laughter!
Will they perform at set times of the day?

    • Jamie and Kevin – Once the Storybook Circus Giggle Gang start making regular appearances in the park, their schedule is expected to be included in the daily Magic Kingdom Times Guide.

  • i absolutely love clowns, i think these three will be a fun, and wonderful addition to storybook circus

  • Will they only be out at scheduled times? My daughter really wants to see the new area when we go in February but she is afraid of clowns.

  • My wife and I are going to see the clowns this month for our annual Christmas Disney trek. We’re members of Clowns of America International, so we like all clowns.

Today’s children have grown up with all those horror story clowns from the movies and comic novels. Even the clowns in today’s Ringling Circus can’t hold a candle to the clowns of that I grew up with. . . Lou Jacobs, Leon McBride, Jim Howel, Tom & Tammy Parrish, Pricilla Mooseburger, Earl Cheney and many others.

  • I’ll agree with Faith; I don’t have clown-phobia, but think most younger kids who’ve never grown up with real circuses have no idea why they’re supposed to like “scary” old-school clowns…But once they see good CLOWNING routines in action, it’s funny. (As our kids found out watching the Big Apple Circus.)
Given some of their other good comic talent on the streets, I’m sure Disney can find performers who know the difference. 🙂

  • Looking forward to seeing all of it for the first time later this month! Going for my son’s special birthday: 12 on 12/12/12 Once in a lifetime!!

    • Lara – How cool! Happy birthday to him!

  • Looks like fun can hardly wait. I booked my family for Disney World vacation over the 4th of July,2013. To celebrate my daughter’s 13th birthday.

    • Tracy – 13 in ’13! What a lucky year for a celebration!

  • Clowns don’t scare me Faith but I am not fond of them at all. I too will be avoiding Storybook Circus. The circus was something I didn’t enjoy as a kid and have never grown to like it. Looking forward to Eric’s castle and the Little Mermaid ride and the beast’s castle though. That’s Disney – something for everyone. A few more days and I’ll be there!

  • Eek! I’m SO not excited for this addition. Clowns absolutely terrify me. Looks like I’ll be avoiding Storybook Circus…

  • Can’t wait to see the Giggle Gang perform!

    • Sarah – You’re going to love them. They’re hysterical!

  • Sweet! This is so exciting!
