Today, we celebrate the grand reveal of New Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom Park. But one iconic elephant has been flying high above Fantasyland since the park opened in 1971. Here’s a look at Dumbo the Flying Elephant back in 1973.

  • Speaking of Dumbo, will we soon see a meet and greet opportunity with Dumbo? I noticed that he was in the special opening show for New Fantasyland and would love to be able to meet him!

  • I remember standing in that line in the hot blazing sun for Dumbo back in 1973, when I was kid. And I remember everyone wanting to be under one of the few umbrellas creating a little shade if only for a few minutes! Now to have the option to wait in the new air conditioned play area for your turn to ride is just amazing!
