Mystic Point to Open at Hong Kong Disneyland on May 17

I was in Hong Kong recently to give members of the media a sneak peek at Mystic Point, the new themed area coming to Hong Kong Disneyland. I’m pleased to say that both the ride and the land itself are fantastic! We revealed some exciting news and details about this project, and I wanted to share those with all of you here on the Disney Parks Blog.

Mystic Point will officially welcome its first guests on May 17, a full year ahead of schedule, and I can’t wait for our Hong Kong Disneyland guests to experience this unique new area. Anchored by an all-new E-ticket attraction, Mystic Point will include new dining and merchandise locations that transport visitors to the mysterious world of Lord Henry Mystic, an eccentric adventurer who has traveled the world collecting unusual objects.

Mystic Manor is Lord Henry’s stately Victorian mansion and private museum, which is home to his extensive array of fine art and antiquities. Open to the public, guests can tour his home by boarding his latest invention – the “Mystic Magneto-Electric Carriage” – in order to view the more than 7,000 artifacts in his collection. However, when Albert, Lord Henry’s pet monkey, opens a peculiar music box in the museum, all of Mystic Manor’s contents magically come to life.

Set to a soundtrack created by legendary composer Danny Elfman, Mystic Manor features a trackless ride system, which is one of the most advanced we’ve ever built. It combines innovative special effects, state-of-the-art technology and legendary Disney storytelling to create an immersive experience that can only be found in Hong Kong.

As part of our current expansion of Hong Kong Disneyland, we’ve opened two other themed areas, Toy Story Land and Grizzly Gulch, which have been a huge hit with guests. We’re certain that Mystic Point will live up to their success, providing guests in Hong Kong with even more unique ways to make Disney memories that will last a lifetime.

  • They’ve built my dream house! 🙂

  • This is the most impressive attraction I have seen come out of WDI in years. Bravo to everyone involved.

  • I would like to spend all day just in Mystic Point… this looks like something Walt and his imagineers would have unveiled, yet with cutting edge imagineering, and still with those Disney-attention-to-detail touches everywhere! Makes me look forward to the Ratatouille land in Paris now!

  • I dunno guys…blue cat aliens or the amazing Mystic Point?
    That’s a tough choice. XP

  • I also agree that this would be perfect for Animal Kingdom and the Adventurelands of any Disney park. There will always be a place for rides that envelop us in the world of Disney films, but there will likewise always be a yearning for attractions that marry technological innovation with original characters, stories and settings. Seeing video clips of Mystic Manor helped me realize what it must have felt like for people seeing a tour of Pirates of the Caribbean on Wonderful World of Color in 1968. They also recalled the sense of wonder I got visiting Tokyo Disneysea and riding Journey to the Center of the Earth, Tower of Terror and Sinbad’s Storybook Voyage for the first time. We don’t just need Mystic Manor in the American Disney parks… We need more things like it.

  • ….And of course, I mean the Parks and Resorts area presentation at this year’s D23 Expo. 🙂

  • It looks fantastic!! Please DO NOT clone this stateside. I’d like to visit Disney Parks all around the world and experience different attractions. Every park should have something unique!

  • This looks awesome. Would also love to see it at Animal Kingdom in Florida.

  • This really needs to be in Animal Kingdom. It’s a cogent fit to the park’s theme. Fantastic job, WDI.

  • You guys should totally build this at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! It would be a great addition!

  • I’ve seen some clips online, and this ride looks fantastic!

Tom, I sure hope that there are some equally exciting and innovative attractions in store for the original Disneyland in California in the next few years. I’m REALLY looking forward to the Parks and Resorts arena presentation! 🙂
