Greetings from Vancouver! I just stepped on board the Disney Wonder and I’m anxiously awaiting the afternoon ship horn signaling we’re setting sail for Alaska!
It’s the first Alaska cruise of the season, marking the start of our 7-night voyages from Vancouver to Tracy Arm, Skagway, Juneau and Ketchikan. This year, we’ve added brand-new Port Adventures, like trips to Annette Island, and of course we’re continuing our guest favorites, like panning for gold with Disney friends.

I sailed this itinerary back in May 2011 and it is still one of my favorites. It’s almost impossible to pick just one port adventure but perhaps the visit to the Sawyer glacier/salmon bake in Juneau or the White Trail Pass in Skagway. For years I avoided sailing Alaska in favor of tropical destinations but it has now, especially board the Disney Cruise Line, become one of my all time favorites!
As far as New York, I took my mother board that itinerary last year and she is so hoping that there will be more sailings, to more destinations, from New York City. She doesn’t like to fly too far so it was perfect for us here in New England. Personally, I’d love to see a Disney cruise ship sail out of Boston Harbor sometime in the future!
I will be sailing the Disney Alaska cruise, in August. My birthday trip this year with my husband. If you where only able to do one port adventure, which one would it be?
Awesome! When will Disney Cruise be sailing from New York next? My daughter has been dying to go on one, but that’s the only way we’re going!

Jaime, we cruised to Alaska last August and it was the best vacation we’ve ever been on! You are going to have so much fun. My wife’s favorite port adventure was going up on the Mendenhall Glacier to go dog-sledding with Iditarod dogs and playing with the puppies. She wasn’t so excited about the helicopter ride on the way up (her first) but, since there were puppies at the end of the flight, she endured. And, she was just fine with the ride flying back down. Enjoy yourselves!
