Today, in 1991 the green carpet was rolled out at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the official opening of Muppet*Vision 3D.
Created jointly with Jim Henson Productions, Muppet*Vision 3D used the most advanced 3D animation and techniques for its time while showcasing Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and friends. Coming up with every imaginable 3D gimmick, this over-the-top film brought the Muppets to star in their very own attraction at Disney Parks. Below, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy prepare to launch fireworks to celebrate the opening of the attraction.
Home to one of the funniest pre-shows at Walt Disney World Resort, numerous Muppets make appearances throughout including Rizzo dressed up as a one very famous Mouse and Sam Eagle telling us to “please move as far to the end of the row as possible. Stopping in the middle is distinctly unpatriotic.”

Thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures. I hope it is as much fun when the rehab finishes,
You’re welcome.
Where is Sam? I don’t see him. He is my favorite. Does he make park appearances any more?
Bean Bunny, Really? He’s too cute to be popular.
I wish the Muppets made Meet and Greet appearances. Any chance of that happening?
One of my favorites when I visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Happy Birthday, Muppet*Vision 3D! 🙂
It’s a salute to all nations, but mostly America.
🙂
Rocked my kermit-mickey ears the entire vacation last time i was there! grew up loving the muppets and still do!
Kermit mouse ears are awesome. I love the Muppets too!
I wish Piggie & Kermie made in park appearances!! We LOVE Muppet*Vision!!
Pardon me for asking. But why is Jim Hensen’s name no longer in the title to the attraction anymore? Online searching really doesn’t have the answer, does it have something to do with his passing away at the time of the attraction’s opening?
Please bring them back for Meet and Greets. My child’s autograph book is begging for their participation!
My first visit to Hollywood Studios was in June 1991. I had no idea that Muppet*Vision 3D was so new during that visit. Another vote for bringing the Muppets back for meet & greets. When I was in 8th grade I wanted to grow up to be Miss Piggy’s wardrobe designer. I would love to meet her in person.
That would be so awesome to bring them back for Meet and Greets — Yes – Yes
Another vote for Meet and Greets! I would go gonzo for a picture with Gonzo and Piggy! Some Limited Time Magic the week of December 7 sounds like a good time for me..LOL
I remember meeting these guys back in ’91. They autographed with stamps, and I recall Kermit refusing to sign mine, eventually realizing he was waiting for a “please”. 🙂
I was there that day. We saw Muppetvision 3D twice. Once with the lights on, it was filmed for a segment on GMA, and then with the lights off.
I could have sworn it used to be called MuppetVision 4D. I distinctly remember the sign saying 4D when I visited as a kid, maybe “handwritten” over 3D, but I don’t see it in these pictures. Am I rewriting history?
I caught the comment from Sam Eagle as we were getting seated in the theater. Too funny!
Please bring them back for meet and greets!
Originally also supposed to have also included The Great Muppet Movie Ride and Gonzo’s Pandemonium Pizza Parlor
