Friday was a magical evening here at Disneyland park, as hundreds of Disney Parks Blog readers gathered at the Fantasyland Theatre for their own showing of the new “Mickey and the Magical Map”!

It was a beautiful afternoon for a meet-up as guests entered Disneyland park on the way to the theatre.

And I was excited to find someone else in a Sorcerer Mickey-inspired outfit!

What did they find when they arrived at the theatre? Popcorn, of course!

After the show, we surprised guests with five magical giveaway prizes, inspired by Mickey Mouse and Disneyland. A few lucky guests came away winners, but the rest just got to practice their exasperated groans. If you were there, say it with me for old times … 6 – 4 – 0 – “aaaaarrrrrggggghhhh!!!”

Then I was joined onstage by some of the people who brought “Mickey and the Magical Map” to life: Tracy Halas, show director and choreographer; Mike Layman, technical director; and Scott Auerbach, art director; for a panel discussion on each of their roles in the show.

At the end of the event, guests were welcomed to enjoy the rest of the evening at Disneyland park! Were you at the Disney Parks Blog Magical Meet-Up? Tell us about it in the comments!

  • I had such a great time and I can’t wait to bring my entire family to see the show! Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of the Disney magic!

  • We had a great time!! It was a blast to hear all about the show! We also loved the luggage tags as they were perfect for the rest of our honeymoon trip (aboard the Disney Wonder to Alaska!). Thanks for a great time!

  • Erin, One of the prizes that was given away was like a print or something of the Disneyland castle. Is that available in stores anywhere? A link would be helpful. Thanks.

    • Yes! It hurt to give that one away. 🙂 It is available in the Disney Gallery/Disneyana in the Bank of Main Street building. I was not able to find a link to it for sale online.

  • It was the best night ever!! We loved the show and every moment of our visit to Disneyland!!

  • It was a great event and show and the treats were a delightful bonus! Afterwards I got to chat a little bit with Paul Hiffmeyer about his photography. Awesome sauce!

  • Oh! We had such an amazing time! I took my Mom as my guest, it was such an awesome experience, you all treated us so well. My mom won the first prize, the Mickey watch, she was so shocked all day! Thank you so much for a great time, and a great show! Mickey and the Magical Map was AMAZING!! I can’t wait to take my girls to see it, I cried when Rapunzel came out and I realized my girls weren’t there to share that with me. So, I owe them a trip now! Thanks again!

  • My little R2D2 loved winning the Mickey watch and was so happy to ask his question about Mickey. Thank you for such a magical time and for creating memories of a lifetime!

  • Thanks for the opportunity to attend a great event! My friends and I appreciated the awesomely sweet popcorn, the beverage and rice-krispie treat in the shape of Mickey. The show was amazing and the prizes were a reason to stay longer. I thought it was hilarious how the moans and groans happened every two numbers(I was only 50 numbers away from winning that blueprint prize:P ). I think the number one highlight of the day was seeing that little girl during the Q&A session with the designers, asking her question about how Mickey “got into the map”. Of course in true Disney fashion, we all knew it was because of “Mickey’s Magic”. 🙂

  • Erin, thank you so very much for a great event! I am so glad I was able to attend. DisneyParks Blog is a wonderful asset to the Resort experience. Thank you 🙂

    • Thanks for reading, Jocelyn!

  • My 4 year old son and I had the best time at our first meet-up! We loved the show. Thank you for the wonderful surprise popcorn buckets, drinks and yummy gift too. We also had the pleasure of meeting you Erin while we were in the registration line. What a sweet person you are. We discussed the new way the registration was done and I appreciate you asking my opinion about it. You also waved to my son as you walked by at the show and he though that was great. Oh, and the raffle was a lot of fun. We were only 2 numbers off from winning the watch…so exciting! The reaction from the crowd was priceless. Thanks again and we hope to attend another meet-up in the future.

    • Great to meet you, Julie! I appreciated your feedback.

  • I absolutely wish I could’ve been there! But, it’s a far drive from Alabama 🙂

    • Thanks for taking a photo with me, Jessica!

  • Thank you for putting on this wonderful event. The show was great and the discussion panel afterward interesting. I didn’t win a raffel prize, but watching everyone enjoy themselves as you were calling out the numbers was entertaining. You really know how to work a crowd! 😉

    • I suppose it was kind of subtle. 🙂

  • OMG THERES ME AND MY FRIEND WITH THE POPCORN! Haha, that meet up was too fun and awesome!

  • I followed the live updates via twitter! Looked like so much fun!!

  • It was one of the most memorable Disney experiences I have ever had! As my guest, I took my 11 year old niece who had no idea where we were going when I picked her up unexpectedly. The look on her face as we entered the parking structure was absolutely priceless. The show was amazing, the treats were delicious and being able to spend the afternoon in the park afterwards just the two of us was a gift she and I will always treasure. Thanks guys!
