The iconic C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A letters that previously stood at the entrance of Disney California Adventure park for a decade will welcome tens of thousands of guests to the California State Fair tomorrow on its opening day! The letters were dedicated in a ceremony today at the site of their new home, the California State Fair’s Main Gate.
You may remember that the Disneyland Resort donated the letters in May 2012 to Friends of the California State Fair, a nonprofit organization that benefits California Exposition & State Fair (Cal Expo) in Sacramento. Cal Expo is the site of the California State Fair and hundreds of other events annually.
Disney California Adventure park Vice President Mary Niven was on hand at Cal Expo to help dedicate the letters, which stand 11 feet, 8 inches tall and weigh between 5,000 to 13,000 pounds each. Mary said, “The C-A-L-I-F-O-R-N-I-A letters were popular with millions of Disneyland Resort guests and Cal Expo is a perfect destination to continue their legacy.”

As an annual passholder, I will miss those letters so much…
I don’t miss them, they were neat but the new entrance to DCA is so much better.
I agree with Josephin….I miss the letters…especially at Christmas when they were holiday themed. I have a timeline of my kids growing up from the annual holiday letters photos we took, lol.
The new entrance to DCA is nice….but it looks too much like DHS in WDW. It’s sad that DCA entrance doesn’t have its own identity anymore. BUT…still LOVE the park!
I live directly across the street from Cal Expo so I can see them every day while walking the dog and walking to work! This is a wonderful addition to Cal Expo and Sacramento. Thanks Disneyland! As a Disneyland APH living in Sacramento it’s nice to have a touch of Disney up here 🙂

I’m glad the letters are still around but I wish they were somewhere at the Disneyland Resort.

I noticed no lights to shine up on the letters.
I miss those letters at the DCA entrance. It provided good memories of watching my kids run up to the letters and posing for a photo.
It made me feel good to drive past the Fairgrounds and see the familiar letters spelling out CALIFORNIA. Thanks for the donation Disneyland Resort!
Awesomesauce!!! They’re only 35 minutes away from my house now instead of 7 hours haha. Glad to see they’ve found a new home, but I do fear they’ll get vandalized out in that area 🙁
