Today we are celebrating the 58th anniversary of Disneyland Resort opening day – July 17, 1955! And what’s a celebration without fireworks? In honor of today’s anniversary, my fellow Disney Parks Blog author, Shannon Swanson, allowed me to jump in on her “Taking it Slow” series, with this amazing look at the “Magical” fireworks spectacular here at Disneyland park. With a combination of slow- and fast-motion video, Shannon and her team have produced another unique look at a Disneyland favorite to celebrate our 58th anniversary.

Happy Birthday Disneyland! I remembered how excited we were just pulling into the parking lot for our first visit in 1955 and I feel the same excitement each time I go.
Back in 1977, my mom and my grandmother drove us three kids (then 11, 10, and 6) from Hamilton, Ontario, to Disneyland for the first time. While my sister and I were getting our picture taken by my mom with Donald, I was paying more attention to him rather than my mom, so he pointed to her and spoke in a duck-like voice, “Cheese!” Disney characters don’t normally speak! I’m sure that Cast Member doesn’t realize that he helped to get me hooked onto all things Disney! I remember seeing both the original Bi-Centennial Parade and the original Main Street Electrical Parade. Both were so magical to me and just being at Disneyland was thanks enough. Happy 58th Birthday, Disneyland!
Some daytime fireworks woulda been a nice birthday surprise!
Congratulations Disneyland! I watched the opening on a black and white tv and told my father I was going to go there someday.
It took a while but finally in 2009 I walked into the entrance and
thought of Walt Disney.
Happy Birthday, Disneyland! I remember all my magical Disneyland moments and I look forward to my next visit when I will make many more!

Nothing quite like fireworks at Disneyland! ( The Patriotic 4tth of July show was fantastic…) Re-living all of those wonderful childhood memories on each visit is what makes Disneyland so special!

Our family has been visiting Disneyland each year since 2007, when our children were 4 and 7. Had to miss this year, unfortunately, but cannot wait for our 2014 visit. We have such fun and lasting memories. I love everything about Disneyland and California Adventure Park. Happy Birthday to “The Happiest Place on Earth.”
