Last year, we announced our company-wide Heroes Work Here initiative to hire, train and support returning veterans. Today, we wanted to let Disney Parks Blog readers know about the next effort in this successful initiative – a complimentary “Veterans Institute” workshop at Walt Disney World Resort designed to support and encourage the hiring of military veterans.

Disney to Host ‘Veterans Institute’ Workshop at Walt Disney World Resort

On Thursday, November 14, Disney will host the “Veterans Institute” workshop at the Walt Disney World Resort. It’s a daylong event designed to help small- and mid-sized companies build effective veteran-hiring programs and our latest effort in the company’s long history of appreciation for the U.S. Armed Services.

At the event, there will be inspirational keynote speakers, panelists, Disney on-air talent and personalities to customized Disney Institute courses as well as an exclusive look at Heroes Work Here initiative. Since launching ‘Heroes Work Here,’ we’ve surpassed the goal of hiring more than 1,000 veterans by 2015.

“Our Heroes Work Here program not only helps us find and hire highly qualified veterans, it also supports veterans and their families as they transition out of the military,” said Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company. “We’re happy to share what we’ve learned with other organizations so that more of these modern-day heroes have the tools and opportunities to build meaningful careers in the private sector.”

  • Hello, I have just been medically retired as a disabled veteran by the Marine Corps after 16 years. I was looking at the flier and believe this is an amazing opportunity. I am currently working as a Project Manager for a CNA and would not be able to attend, is there any other way to take advantage of this opportunity.

  • Just one more reason to LOVE Disney. Well done.
