It’s Freaky Friday – Time to Open Another Door on the Gingerbread House Inside Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland Park

Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland park makes Friday even more fun: it’s the day to open another door on the “13 Faces of Jack” Advent Calendar Mausoleum. Behind every door is another likeness of the infamous Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” the inspiration behind the cool seasonal décor at the Haunted Mansion.

“It’s the biggest yet,” says Brian Sandahl, Senior Designer at Disney Creative Entertainment. The mausoleum measures 8 feet wide and 13 feet tall and sits imposingly on the table in the ballroom of the Haunted Mansion.

The over-the-top decorations are the result of a year-long collaboration between Disneyland Resort chefs, the Entertainment team and Walt Disney Imagineering. Here’s a look back at the making of this year’s gingerbread creation.

  • Love the Hidden Mickey on the table too!

  • Wow! Another masterpiece by the Disney pastry chefs! I am always amazed at each year’s creation for Haunted Mansion Holiday, and I just love riding it and smelling the gingerbread! I also have fond memories of opening the advent calendars with my family around Christmas, so this one is a favorite for me. Happy Halloween!

  • The Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride in any Disney park but I am always so disappointed because I never get to experience the Mansion when I am in California. We go for my husband’s work every September and the Mansion is always closed for the holiday overlay at that time. I wish there was a permanent Nightmare Before Christmas ride so that the Haunted Mansion could stay in its original form all year long.

  • It looks great inside the mansion! Definitely my favorite so far!
