A new gallery, Norsk Kultur, opened its doors in the Norway pavilion at Epcot over the weekend. The gallery showcases a collection of artifacts and objects that inspired the world of Disney’s “Frozen.

Norsk Kultur, meaning “Norweigan Culture,” will feature items such as: an authentic hand-made bunad, the traditional costume of Norway; A hardanger fiddle and other handmade instruments; Hand-carved artisan furniture; Examples of rosemaling (traditional Norse decorative painting) and more. The collection will also feature a Southern Sami Man’s outfit – in the film, the character of Kristoff represents a blend of both Northern and Southern indigenous Sami culture. Some artifacts on display date back as early as the 1200s.

Don’t forget – Disney’s “Frozen” opens in theaters November 27.

  • So…is this new gallery where the Viking exhibit was? My kids love that exhibit. Will it be gone forever or just while the Frozen promo is being shown?

  • is there a closing date for the gallery? we were just there last week and it wasn’t open, and are going back in june. would love to see it then.

  • Perhaps this is silly, but since we are using the Norwegian language here:

In Norwegian you wouldn’t capitalize the k in “kultur”, thus the sign should say “Norsk kultur” and not “Norsk Kultur”. They also called the Princess Meet and Greet “Prinsesse Plass”, which in Norwegian means “[a] Princess [named] Place”. It would have been better to call it “Prinsesseplassen” or “Prinsessetorget”.
