New Merchandise for Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend at the Walt Disney World Resort on November 8-9, 2013

The runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend returns to Walt Disney World Resort on November 8-9, 2013. I will be attending the half marathon on Saturday evening to cheer on my fiancée as she crosses the finish line. She recently asked me what new merchandise was created for the event, so I contacted Mary Myers, merchandiser for runDisney events, to get a first look.

The assortment for this year’s half marathon will include a mixture of apparel, pins, home goods and more. Many of these items include artwork created by Disney Design Group artist Paola Gutierrez. She told me the artwork was inspired by the main merchandise artwork from the 2013 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

“Randy Noble’s artwork from this year’s festival was my inspiration,” explained Paola. “I liked the whimsical, hand-drawn style found in that artwork which I incorporated into the half marathon art. I purposely designed the logo to resemble a bottle label. The colors that Mary selected for the shirts this year were a happy accident. She selected a nice, wine-inspired color pallet which complemented the logo artwork very well.”

For the “I Did It” T-shirt, Paola added a bit more excitement to the design (I’m sure I’d feel beyond excited to crossing the finish line if I was running). The back of that T-shirt contains a stylized course map (shown in the first image above).

In addition to T-shirts, participants will also find some long-sleeved options and a cool, navy colored polo shirt.

Mary told me there will also be a few Disney pins to commemorate the event along with a mini-medal for the runDisney Vinylmation figure. Other non-apparel items include a wine glass, car magnets, a window decal and two Sweaty Bands.

Look for these items at Disney’s Health & Fitness Expo that will be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. On Friday, November 8, the Expo will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Expo will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9.

  • Heard a rumor of New Balance releasing the new sneaker at the expo, is that true?

    • @Maria – I’m not too involved with New Balance shoes. I’ve not heard such a thing.

  • Are there any women’s shirts? They all look like men’s. Can’t wait for the race! It will be my first half.

    • @Jennifer – I spoke with Mary who said there is a women’s assortment including a gray “I Did It” shirt, peacock and black short sleeve shirts, a pink 1/4 zip pullover, and a white fleece. I didn’t show all options above, so I apologize for the confusion. Best of luck on your first half!
