Disneyland Resort Viewing Tips: Pixar Play Parade

It’s time to “countdown to fun” with the Pixar Play Parade at Disney California Adventure park! This parade features some of your favorite characters from Disney•Pixar films such as Woody, Sulley and Mater, and is guaranteed to have the whole family clapping and dancing along. As with previous stories in this series, I’m here to share some tips to help you enjoy this high-energy parade even more. And if your have your own tips, please leave them in the comments!

  • Finding the perfect parade viewing location – The parade route at Disney California Adventure park traverses most of the park, starting at The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and stretching all the way to Silly Symphony Swings! The route provides plenty of fantastic vantage points from which to view the parade. For example, if you want to be at the beginning of the parade, pick a spot in Hollywood Land. But the area near Goofy’s Sky School and Jumpin’ Jellyfish on Paradise Pier sometimes offers a bit more space – just remember it may take about 15 minutes for the parade to reach your viewing location.
  • Get set to get wet! – One of the unique things about Pixar Play Parade is that all of the floats launch water and mist during the warmer seasons! Keep this in mind when using equipment like cameras and phones during the parade. If the weather is a little cooler, have no fear – almost every float will feature bubbles!
  • Looking for shade? – One of the best things about Southern California is the sunshine. However, sometimes all that sun can be a challenge. Shady spots can be found near The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure.
  • Navigating Disney California Adventure park during the parade – If you would prefer to race on over Radiator Springs Racers or enjoy a meal at Carthay Circle Restaurant and Lounge rather than watch the parade, don’t miss this tip! If you need to cross the parade route to get to another destination, just ask one of the cast members carrying an orange baton where to find the nearest crossing, and they will point you in the right direction.

Alright, that should do it! Let the countdown begin: “5 … 4 … 3 … 2 … FUN!”

  • Love the parade! I like to be in front of the restaurants, to get a view just as they round the corner from Goofy’s Sky School. The area is narrow, but no one can get in front of you!

  • This is a really fun parade. 🙂

  • Because we (our lil family; Kathy, Hannah and I) go every year, we were lucky enough to catch the Pixar Play Parade when it was brand new!! I’ll never forget the sunny, perfect, California day and that great, catchy, theme-song and all the unforgettable Pixar characters! I stayed on one side of the street and my wife n daughter went to the other and because I staked out a trash-can to sit on and was up pretty high, I got squirted by EVERY float that went by!!! Can’t wait to see it again next summer!
