Have you had a chance to check out the Wilderness Explorers challenge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom yet?

Inspired by the Wilderness Explorers club featured in the Disney•Pixar film “Up,” young Wilderness Explorers travel through the park to learn about the outdoors and earn Wilderness Explorer badge stickers along the way.

If you’re planning on embarking on a Wilderness Explorers challenge at the park soon, here’s how you can get some practice right at your very own home!

  • Oh Tammi! Once you get through the gates of Disney World, how can you discriminate against one’s age? We all become kids in WDW!Last December, as my 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law were on the Wild Africa Trek, I did half of the Wilderness Explorer badges and can’t wait to go back and finish. I was considerate of the children in my group and waited until last to test my skills. The Cast Members were very respectful of a 61 year old lady’s wish to earn my badges.

  • I LOVE this program at Animal Kingdom as well as the Russel and Dug meet and greet. We started the program last fall and I am bringing my WE guide with me on our next trip (which starts TOMORROW!!!). The cast members were generous to allow ‘big kids’ to play as well, which I appreciated. UP is my favorite Disney-Pixar movie, I even dressed as a Wilderness Explorer last year at Mickey’s not so Scary Hallloween party!

    • Sounds like you are a big fan of “Up!”

  • My daughter completed the entire Wilderness Explorers challenge in one day in February. She loved it and there was no way she was leaving the park without completing the entire thing! My only issue was how many adults were doing the challenges. It really should be just for kids because many times the adults took away some of the fun from the kids that it was really meant for.

  • My daughter started working on her book in Sept. We’re going again in May. Where do we get the badges of the home activities?
    Thanks! She loves this program.

    • This graphic is just for guests to have some fun at home.

  • Shouldn’t the Nature Walk Badge say “…by bringing a friend OR family member”? It says OF.
