As we learned yesterday, “it’s a small world” has journeyed from California to New York and back again, and now some of its iconic dolls are making the voyage once again. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the attraction’s opening at the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair, these dolls will appear on ABC’s Good Morning America, where they will be featured as part of the show’s coverage of our global sing-along event. In the video below, we see how the dolls are cared for here at Disneyland park and how they were prepared for their trip.

And don’t forget – you’ve still got time to join the celebration at SmallWorld50.com!

  • Hi Erin,

This post is so neat, I love seeing the preparations involved for the transport of the dolls and will keep my eyes open for this special broadcast on Good Morning America.

Observing how detail oriented Disney Imagineers are, has taught me to step back, be more patient and take greater notice in my daily life. When at the Disney Parks or with the Cruise Line, I mostly enjoy looking for such detailing throughout the parks, which always has significance and meaning.

    “It’s all in the details.”

    Have a great day,
    Jackie

  • Do you happen to know when the GMA special broadcast will be? I would love to watch it!

  • Please handle with care!! Those dolls are very precious to us. We can’t wait to see them back at Disneyland, USA.

  • Hi Erin!

    It’s me Brandon! 😀

Do you know if any couples from ABC’s Dancing with the Stars will be at the Disneyland Resort starting either today, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 all the way through Sunday, April 13, 2014?

Next week Monday, April 14, 2014 on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars is Disney Week! 😀 I want to know if any couples will be visiting the Disneyland Resort on Saturday, April 12, 2014. I plan on going that day to show more of my Disney Side! It would be nice if I do see a couple from ABC’s Dancing with the Stars! Then I’ll have a whole bunch of photos from this next visit. I plan on doing Spring Fling in Frontierland and Captain America: The Living Legend and Symbol of Courage in Tomorrowland finally. 😀

  • I was at the world’s fair in 1964 with my parents and 3 siblings! My Dad just informed me of this fact yesterday when I brought up the subject that both the It’s a Small World ride and I are celebrating our 50th birthdays! PLEASE keep enough dolls in Disney World the week after Easter as I am headed down to celebrate with them! THANKS! Happy 50th Birthday It’s a Small World! 🙂
