More Walt Disney World Resort Stories

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Officially Opens

This morning, we officially opened the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the latest addition to the Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort.

Our new attraction is the crown jewel of New Fantasyland, and it features just the right combination of heart, humor, and thrill to appeal to everyone in the family. The attraction has a unique new ride system that allows the mine cars to sway back and forth as guests are immersed into the world of the treasured film.

Inside the mine, our Imagineers put to work some newly invented Audio-Animatronics magic that brings to life the stars of our attraction: Doc, Sneezy, Sleepy, Grumpy, Bashful, Happy, and Dopey. I think you’ll find all seven of them to be as charming as ever!

For the grand opening of this family-friendly roller coaster, we were joined by some very special guests — seven “Littles” and their “Bigs” from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida along with Orlando Magic stars Victor Oladipo and Tobias Harris.

As I said when we dedicated this attraction a few weeks ago, we think this ride will be an instant classic – one that will connect new generations to one of Walt Disney’s earliest stories and its timeless characters. We’re excited to kick-off the summer by sharing Seven Dwarfs Mine Train with all of our guests.

P.S. Keep your eyes open as you ride. You may spot a hidden “tribute” to Oswald along the way!

  • Loved it! We rode the Mine Train at Rock Your Disney Side…. Twice!

Can hardly wait until next Tuesday to ride again!

  • It looks awesome!

Tom–I sure hope that there are some new rides and attractions in development for the original Disneyland in California, especially since Disneyland will turn 60 next year, and will hopefully get some attention. 🙂

  • “Well isn’t that a nice little ride”

  • Mr. Staggs, I’m so excited to see & experience this ride! My husband and I have reservations to come to WDW in September for our 21st anniversary. This morning I purchased the mine car pin with Grumpy (my husband) & Dopey (me) in it! I also bought the Dopey mine car figurine! Thank You for giving us Disney fans something to always look forward to!!! P.S.–Now looking to Avatar development!

    Thanks again,
    Andrea from NV
