So far, we’ve shared several different “firsts” to experience at Disney Parks in our new #DisneyKids blog series but today’s may be our most popular – a first flight on Dumbo the Flying Elephant. This attraction is for everyone – and that’s part of what makes it a special “first” memory for so many guests.

Keep your #DisneyKids suggestions coming in and let us know what was special, memorable or even life changing about your first ride at Disney Parks in the comments.

Also, you can find more fun for little ones – as well as special offers designed with your family in mind on our special preschool page.

  • We took our then five year old grandson Matt to Disneyland and at first he was afraid to ride Dumbo. We asked him several times during our stay do you want to ride and he was still not sure. He finally said OK but he did not want to go up. I assured him we would not and that he could hold the control stick. As we begain to ride he watched everyone else flying high and he than said “Grandma we are going up.” Up we rose slowly until we we were at the top. “This is awesome! ” was his comment as we flew. Dumbo became his favorite ride and we rode over and over during the rest of our stay.

  • Dumbo at Disneyland was my daughter’s first ride in any Disney park. She was 2-1/2.
Later that day, she rode Matterhorn Bobsleds–this was before the last refurbishment that raised the minimum height from 35″ to 42″.
