We’re looking for 101 pet dogs to celebrate their Disney Side at one of the most unique events the Disney Parks Blog has ever hosted. A Disney Side Dog’s Day at Magic Kingdom Park will be held on August 30, 2014, (before the park opens) at the Walt Disney World Resort – and we’d love for you and your costumed dog to participate if you are eligible and if a photo of your dog showing his or her Disney Side is selected in our contest.

BIP575342

The event officially begins at 6:30 a.m. EDT on Saturday, August 30, but we’re asking for attendees and their pet dogs to arrive at 5:45 a.m. at Disney’s Contemporary Resort parking area. Inside the park, dogs and owners will walk the “green carpet” (with fire hydrants) on Main Street U.S.A., enjoy a “Doggie Dance Party” and experience a special walk in the park around a portion of Magic Kingdom Park. A light breakfast will also be served.

During the event, a crew from Animal Planet’s “America’s Cutest Pet” will be filming pet dogs for a special Disney Side edition of the TV show that’ll air in October. Attendees will have the option to be filmed for the TV show but participation is not mandatory.

Please read the official rules before you enter the contest, and please pay special attention to the following “Do’s and Don’ts” when preparing your entry.

Do’s

  • Showing your dog’s Disney Side means your dog should be costumed in a fun way, a way that also ties into what Disney Parks represents through its Disney characters and attractions.
  • Be sure your dog’s costume and photo of you and your dog comply with the official rules and contest criteria.
  • Be creative with the costume and the photo.
  • Make sure your photo is not larger than 2MB. Color and black and white images are acceptable.
  • Include all paperwork required in the Official Rules.
  • By entering the contest you agree to Disney’s Terms of Use.

Don’ts

  • Don’t show any prominent brands or logos other than those on/in your Dog’s costume.
  • Don’t include anyone besides yourself and your dog in the photo.
  • Don’t show anything that might be objectionable, vulgar or obscene. Avoid rude gestures, and other inappropriate stuff and for your and your dog’s safety, don’t try any risky moves.

Now, to enter, send us an email titled “A Disney Side Dog’s Day in the Park” with a photo of your Disney Side-costumed dog, your name, your pet’s medical documents and if you’ll be bringing a guest to WDW.BlogMeetUps@disney.com.

Also, there are a few more things you should know:

  • All attendees who sign up for the event must be 18 years or older, but guests of the winners do not need to be 18 or older.
  • Limit one guest and one dog per winner in the contest.
  • We will send a confirmation email to the winning contest entrants to confirm their attendance for the event.
  • If confirmed, it will be necessary for the registrant and guest to check in at the front of Disney’s Contemporary Resort for access to the event. The confirmation will include those details.
  • Valid photo I.D. will be required at check-in.
  • Winning confirmations are non-transferrable and have no cash value.
  • Confirmation will be for the winner of the contest submission, winner’s dog and winner’s guest.
  • If you do not receive an email from us confirming our selection of your contest submission, then your contest submission was not selected.
  • The event is subject to change or cancellation.

Please note the event is subject to change or cancellation without notice.

Hope to see you there.

  • I can’t wait to see the photos from this event. How unique and what fun!!

  • As the “Dog Days” of Summer linger off and drift into the changing to Fall, this celebration sounds bark -tastic!
I have two incredible yellow 8 year old labs, Buck and Buddy and ths would be right up their alley. But, as fate woukd have it we live in N.J., so thank you for sharing what looks to be a day “gone to the Dogs!
I love the idea of “Disneyside Dog Day”, Pluto must be in his glory just waiting to meet so many new friends!

  • I hope I got through since I have not gotten a notice. I just sent mine in. Under the wire, but since last night I was at Villains Unleashed all night I had very little time!

  • Just resent it and so far have not gotten the mailbox full message. Fingers crossed! Keep trying everyone!

  • Please fix your full mailbox Disney! I’ve also been trying since last night to send in my entry. Give everyone a fair chance to enter before the end time please. I also posted on your tweet about the event.

  • I’ve been trying to send an email since last night but it keeps getting returned saying your mailbox is full. Is there anything I can do to get my photo submitted?

  • I tried to send my information yesterday and received an email that your mailbox is full. Are you able to resolve this issue in time for us to submit?

  • Just tried to submit my entry…their mailbox is full so came back as undeliverable. :((

  • Oh no! I just tried to send my entry and it says it will not deliver…your mailbox is full! How can I submit? I sent it to the email address as stated above 🙁

  • Tried to submit entry..their mailbox is full!!!!

  • I tried to enter a submission but the mailbox was full. Is there any chance this will be taken care of before the deadline? I thought I was ready in plenty of time.

  • I just tried to enter, but got a message that the mailbox is full. 🙁 Will it be fixed before the deadline of 11am tomorrow?

  • I cannot send anything, I get a message back saying the mailbox is full. 🙁

  • I tried emailing my submission and it bounced back saying the recipient’s mail box is full. 🙁
Is that going to be fixed, or do I not get to enter now?

  • We are trying to send in our picture and the email is bouncing back saying that the mailbox is full and they cannot receive messages. Is there another email address we can send it to?

  • Hmm, my email kept getting kicked back saying the Disney email was full 🙂 Not sure how that is possible?! Will try again in the morning, fingers crossed.

  • Wish we had received more notice for this. Next week’s schedule is already made and of course I’m working Saturday morning. I would love to have a pic of my dog taken with Pluto!!

  • I am very sad that this is only for Florida residents as well. I just went shopping for all of the props and was prepared to fly out if offered the opportunity. I can say I am glad that Disney is thinking of our 4 legged friends and would be thrilled if there were annual events like this that were open to the public. I would surely make it a point to fly out and attend every year, and know that I could round up several other dog and Disney loving friends to join me (hint, hint)…..

  • I tried to send in my email and got this reply back, what do I do!?

“The recipient’s mailbox is full and can’t accept messages now. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please try resending this message later, or contact the recipient directly.”

  • Oh Boy! I have six wonderful adorable Cats.

Do I need to start over?

  • I am SO disappointed that this is only open to Florida Residents. We are here visiting from NY and I have both of my dogs here. They love to show their DisneySide!! Why not open the contest up to anyone who will be in the area with their dog on that day and available to attend? Really disappointed.

  • Only dogs up to 70 pounds? My German Shepherd would have loved this!

  • Looking forward to entering! ***Can the submitted picture be of the Pet by itself? Or does the owner need to be in the picture also?

  • Dang….I was hoping to take Fido on the monorail.

  • I hope you plan one of these at Disneyland !!!! My boy Buzz would love to show his Disney side !!!

  • I see that the person entering can not be an employee. Can the guest be an employee?

  • We just entered our awesome dalmatian, Lucy, into the contest!! We have our fingers/paws crossed hoping to get picked!!!

  • This sounds like so much fun! Is there any chance that an event like this might be held at the Disneyland Resort as well?

  • My puppies are too young to be fixed, but I sure would have loved to participate!! What a great opportunity and sounds like so much fun. It may be hard for a lot of people to get their paperwork from their vet on this short notice. 🙁

  • What’s the guest policy if dogs want to -use- the fire hydrants?

  • Is there any way you could accept an entry without the documentation? It would be far fetched to procure it on a weekend without notice.

  • Yes!!!! Soooooo excited!!! Finally a dog party in Disney! My little princess would be so excited to win! Getting my entry together now.

  • Also so very disappointed in the Florida resident requirement. My dog loves a car ride, it would have been a fantastic road trip.

  • Can guests attend this to watch if they dont have dogs?

    • Hi Madeline, this event is taking place before park opens.

  • So disappointed you have to be a Florida resident to enter! I’m in SC and would gladly make the trip if my little guy was chosen – I have some great pictures of him in his Mickey Ears!

  • What a fantastic event! Sorry we’ll miss it, but we’ll be with you the week after. Have a great time!

  • This looks like it’s going to be dog gone awesome!

  • Ahh! I hope I get my entry in on time, medical docs for dog are at home 🙂
