Today is the first day of fall, and here at Walt Disney World Resort that means it’s the official start of a whole new season of fun.

Here are 10 reasons that fall is a great time to visit our parks.

Mickey's Boo-to You Halloween Parade

  1. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Parties – This special after-hours Halloween party at Magic Kingdom Park is a must-do during a fall visit. Bring your Halloween costumes, get ready to trick-or-treat and expect to see some amazing Halloween entertainment and fireworks! More details on this offering here.
  2. Villain’s Sinister Soiree – Available only on Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party nights, guests can book this special package that offers a wicked good time that includes VIP viewing for the parade and fireworks, as well as an exclusive dessert party that features some of your favorite Disney villains, musical entertainment and some delectable treats. 1. Pumpkins! (And Generally Amazing Fall Decor) – Fall at Magic Kingdom Park offers up some amazing photo opportunities, as our photography team showed in this blog post earlier this month. What I love most are the pumpkins along Main Street, U.S.A., which each feature their own unique design. Take a moment to check them out.

  2. Epcot International Food & Wine Festival – Each night through November 10, Epcot will come alive with food and fun thanks to the return of one of our most popular events, the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. This year, 25 marketplaces will show off the talents of 270 chefs, including some of Disney’s finest, as well as some celeb chefs.
  3. Celebrity Chef Appearances – This year’s festival will feature appearances by celeb chefs Jamie Deen, “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro and Allen Susser, among others.
  4. Eat To The Beat Concert Series – While we’re talking about fall fun at Epcot, the Eat to the Beat concert series is already underway with several new acts – including Fuel, Jim Brickman, Los Lonely Boys and David Cook – in the lineup. (Concerts are included in park admission).

  • One thing I love is the autumn version of the Main Street Trolley Show! I’ve been humming that song to myself for a few weeks now.

  • @Timothy, Steven had said the new Haunted Mansion store is set to open this fall.

  • Fall is absolutely my favorite! You can’t beat the Epcot International Food and Wine festival! I did not realize what a treat it was until I saw it with my own eyes. And if you are terrified of long lines at Magic Kingdom- be sure to go on a MNSSHP evening! We rode several of our favorite rides multiple times. What a treat! 17 days until we are there again. Hoping for another spectacular trip!

  • Hi Jennifer,
great post! I’m visiting WDW from the UK for Halloween and attending MNSSHP for the first time, we’re very excited!
I wanted to ask you about the new Haunted Mansion merch. I had heard that the new shop was not going to open until January 15, is that the case? And if so will any of these incredible new items be available at other locations? It seems that Halloween would be the perfect time to launch this range and I’d love to be able to get my hands on some of these new goodies while I’m on vacation.
    Thanks so much,
    Tim.

  • Will the Haunted Mansion shop be open year round or is it just a special event? And where will it be? Right by the Mansion?

  • Jennifer,
One of our favorite times to visit WDW, there is a story to be told and a memory to be made around every corner of Epcot International Wine and Dine,MNSSHP,and the Fall decorations are just Spooktacular !
Love the new Haunted Mansion merchandise as well, the haunted side of Disney!
    Great article!

  • You forgot the best thing about Fall, it’s not 95 degrees

  • Any word on when the new Dooney & Bourke Haunted Mansion merchandise will materialize? Will it be like last year with a release at the parks, and then online? A lot of us are “dying” to know!

    • @Elizabeth – This is Steven from Disney Theme Park Merchandise. Please stay tuned as I intend to have a Disney Parks Blog article soon with additional details. I’m waiting for confirmation for a few things before I can finalize the story.
