Christmas Trees of the Disneyland Resort

Some people shop, others finish off those leftovers; my day-after-Thanksgiving tradition is to decorate my Christmas tree. So, while I’m untangling strings of lights, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite Christmas trees here at the Disneyland Resort.

We’ve got to start with the big one – Main Street, U.S.A. Towering 60 feet tall and covered with more than 1,800 ornaments, this iconic tree is the focal point of the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort.

This may be as close to a Christmas tree as you’re going to get in the heart of darkness. You’ll get the point in the end on the Jingle Cruise.

Over at Disney California Adventure park, Buena Vista Street boasts its own impressive Christmas tree, featuring vintage-style ornaments inspired by the 1920s and ‘30s.

Even Stanley gets in the holiday spirit with this hubcap-adorned tree in Cars Land.

And finally, the hotels of the Disneyland Resort each feature their own beautiful holiday decorations, like the enormous tree in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

  • @michael: They switched over to using a faux tree on Main Street a few years ago to accommodate the (awesome) twinkling snow effects. No more support cables helping it stay vertical either.

  • Where is the Disneyland tree from this year?

  • Is the hubcap tree back in Cars Land now, or is it still missing from its spot (after its mysterious disappearance last week)?

As for my favorite trees — it’s hard to choose. I may change my opinion from year to year! Lol. I am a Christmas tree fanatic/aficionado/enthusiast, and have rarely met a tree that I didn’t like. One of my favorite holiday activities to engage in at DLR is tree-hunting! I scout out the different theme-specific trees — whether they are featured in window displays, on shelves or stationed in the middle of Town Square, I love a good Christmas tree!

I love most of the hotel trees. I can’t let a holiday season at DLR go by without taking in the beauty of the striking blue-green tree in the Paradise Pier Hotel lobby. The rich color of the lights is warm and calming. I also love the golden glow of the tree in the Grand Californian Hotel lobby. I love the themed trees in the Disneyland Hotel towers. The lovely Tangaroa Terrace tree — another favorite — is covered in flowers and candles.

In the parks… I love the pink tones, lace, crystal and other old-fashioned details on the tree in Gibson Girl Ice Cream on Main Street. I love the teeny tiny trees that can be found along the Storybook Land Canal. I love the underwater look of the tree in Ariel’s Grotto in DCA. The tinsel mini-tree in Elias & Company is great.

In Downtown Disney, I am partial to the black “Nightmare Before Christmas” mini-tree that is usually found in World of Disney every year. I also enjoy the “candy trees” on the upper shelves of Marceline’s Confectionery.
