Have you started decorating your home for the holidays yet? Our Holiday Services department works year round to make sure that everything is ready to be installed at each park and resort here at Walt Disney World Resort.
Last week, they completed an overnight installation of holiday decor at Magic Kingdom Park – just in time for the park’s first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of the season.
With the park’s new daily procession, Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, and its sizeable floats that make their way down Main Street, U.S.A., some of the holiday decor had to be reimagined for this year. Check out this video for a behind-the-scenes look!

I was just there this past weekend and thought the arches looked new. The attention to details was amazing. I loved the Mickey garland on the light poles. What was even better was when in snowed on Main Street during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
I really like the arches as a replacement for the garland because it offers such a great view of the castle, which is amazing during the holidays with all the lights.
I second that question from Ana. We will be there starting Jan 3and would love to be able to see the decor and watch Elsa freeze the castle. Please say all the festivities will still be going on!!!
Hello! I’ll be visiting with my family during the first week of January, will we be able to see any christmas decorations?
From Dec. 20-31, “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade” is presented to day guests in the park in place of Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade. Holidays Around the World at Epcot ends Dec. 30. And Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights ends on Jan. 4.
I loved the old garlands but these just might be better – anything keeping the castle in clear view is a success in my book! can’t wait to see them at the end of the month.
Oooh, I love this! While I know many people prefer the tradition of the garland (equally gorgeous), I think this is a great alternative. You just can’t beat Christmas at the Magic Kingdom.
I think it’s a terrific alternative.
Was it done earlier this year than last? If so, would it be done around the same time next year? I only ask because that could have an impact on our 2015 vacation!
Holiday installation begins soon after Halloween, but the exact date varies per year. Your best bet would be to continue to follow the blog for the 2015 dates for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
Good morning!
What a wonderful blog post to start off my day and it gives my family a lot to look forward to during our Christmas break vacation next month. December 18th couldn’t come soon enough, but in the meantime, we’re basking in this amazing video.
Thank you so much for sharing,
Jackie
December is an amazing time to visit. I know you’ll have a blast!
