Last month, Thomas Smith kicked off a new series on the Disney Parks Blog we’re calling “Room with A View.” It’s a fun way to take a peek inside some Disney resorts that offer amazing views of Walt Disney World Resort.
Today, I want to take you into another favorite view – the savannah room on the second floor of the Jambo House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
From the savannah room, you can see African animals and tropical birds on the nearby savannah. There’s actually 30 species of African wildlife including giraffe, zebra and greater kudu that roam right before your eyes.
It’s so serene and exotic – unlike any other resort in Orlando. And the view inside this room is pretty amazing too. It feels authentic and captures the artistry of African craftsmanship with hand-carved woodwork and rich colors woven in textured fabrics.
You can book this room now at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. To find prices and availability, visit our Disneyworld.com page.
There are so many views to share with you so stay tuned to the next resort we showcase in our Disney Parks Blog Room with a View series.

Just spent the week here ! Amazing. So beautiful, staff was outstanding !
And the Animals gave the resort a touch of elegance! What a lovely place to vacation,
Thank you Disney for giving us a beautiful family birthday vacation !
If you are debating if you should stay at this resort — do it, not one regret !
Stayed at Kidani three times in 2014, February, June and October. Once just with DH and the other two times with three generations. Stayed in a studio, a two bedroom villa and a one bedroom villa. All had Savannah views. We usually do a split stay, two or three nights at Kidani then move to another DVC Resort. The restaurants are fabulous and the Savannah views are simply amazing! Love the giraffes and the zebras. My 90 year old MIL was entranced watching all the animals from our private balcony. DH and I already have a two night stay booked for January before we move to BLT for three nights.
This suite looks phenomenal! Someday it would be a treat to stay there. The animals bring you right into the story of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge!
I was upgraded to a Savannah view room on my stay there, and it’s still the best D-hotel stay I’ve had. 🙂
The lights have to stay on outside in the evening, if you don’t mind a night-light, and you can see the camouflaged fencing that keeps the animals a safe distance from the building, so giraffes won’t stick their heads up to your balcony like in the original ads.
But it’s nice to be able to wake up in the morning, or go to bed at night, and see giraffes wandering the grounds outside the view.
Simply amazing. I stayed there once and it remains the best hotel view I have ever had.
The Red River Hogs are my favorite!
