Today we’re celebrating one of the most important dates in Disney history here on the Disney Parks Blog – Walt Disney’s birthdate!
Walt, who was born December 5, 1901, made so many amazing contributions in the fields of art, animation, film and theme parks that it would be impossible to list them all here. Instead we’re celebrating by sharing a look back at one of our most exciting Walt memories caught on film – the day that he and his brother Roy officially announced plans to build a theme park in Central Florida. Listen to the official announcement below.

Happy Birthday Walt!!
I love that he emphasizes that Disneyland and “the Florida project” are two totally separate things! Disneyland and Walt Disney World are each special and amazing in their own unique ways. No need to choose which one is “better,” just enjoy them both for what they each have to offer. 🙂
Walt,
You’ve done for me more than you can imagine.
One man’s dream has multiplied to create many men and women’s dreams; including mine.
And many of us have wished upon a star as dreamers do and our dreams HAVE come true thanks to you.
Happy Birthday Walt Disney
I am enjoying the pictures on the blog header today. I have always thought if one wanted to see what pure joy looks like, they should wacth the dedication footage of Walt. It is pure joy! He looked so excited and giddy (pretty much like a child is when they learn they are going to Disney) that he looked as if he were going to burst.
Happy Birthday Walt!
(I think I might just have to watch saving Mr. Banks tonight)
Happy Birthday Walt!!! You have changed America and the world in ways you could not have imagined.
Happy 113th Mr Disney.
