It’s a big night at the Disneyland Resort, as we reveal some of the exciting plans for the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, including spectacular new entertainment and sparkling surprises – all starting this spring!
Continuing a tradition of innovative, immersive storytelling begun when Walt Disney opened Disneyland on July 17, 1955, the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration showcases three electrifying new shows that will take you into the worlds of Disney stories like never before.
Tonight, Tom Staggs was joined on stage by Steve Davison, executive for parades and spectaculars with Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Entertainment, as they shared that during the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, Disney California Adventure park will present a special edition of the popular “World of Color” show.
Opening May 22, 2015, “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” illuminates the night in a contemporary and moving celebration of Walt and his dream of Disneyland, showing that anything is possible if we never give up on our dreams.
Mickey Mouse will take guests on a fun-filled and inspirational journey through the unparalleled imagination of Walt Disney, exploring his decades-long legacy of memorable animated moments and the dream of Disneyland park.
Both epic and intimate in scope, “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” brings to life the remarkable story of Walt and the Happiest Place on Earth in a first-of-its-kind spectacular, presented on the magic canvas of “World of Color” with compelling animated imagery, live-action footage, fountains, lasers, special effects and a stirring musical score.

Are they going to still offer the WOC dining packages during the Diamond Celebration for the new WOC show? Also are there any plans to have dining packages for the new color the night parade at Disneyland? Right now they offer the Fantasmic dining packages. Is there any news about including the same packages for Color the Night Parade? I think that would be great for the people who WANT to pay for it, have a nice dinner and have priority seating for the color the night parade. I’d hate to have to find a spot for the parade 3 hours in advance just to be able to see it.
I wonder which nighttime show is going to have the cut Alice in Wonderland segment Disneyland Forever or World of Color: Celebrate the wonderful world of Walt Disney? If it does appear.
I totally forgot about this when I got my first annual pass this year. It’s blocked out during the summer but I can’t wait to see it this fall!
I was just at Disneyland for New Years. Which is a little more of a chore since my family now lives in Texas.. it sounds like if I don’t make it back before the end of 2015 I might miss some/all of the new parades (like paint the night) or nighttime spectaculars for the 60th anniversary. Aren’t any of the new shows that are premiering for the Diamond Celebration going to be sticking around?? It would be sad if that was the case. Cuz the preview I saw with the projections all down Main Street looked pretty sweet.. If anyone has any knowlede, please share. Thanx
Does this mean that World of Color Winter Dreams will not be shown this year?
This looks so amazing! I guess my question is similar to others. We just started planning a trip out to CA for November, specifically to see the holiday offerings. Will we be seeing the Diamond Celebration shows and fireworks instead? Either way, I guess it’s pretty exciting.
Is the plan to only run the parade, fireworks and new WOC show only thru the end of summer, or throughout the rest of 2015?
Lisa – An end date has not yet been determined, but the celebration is planned to go through at least the end of the year.
Sounds really cool!
Will this edition of world of color be a temporary show? Or is it going to be replacing the original?
Nick – “World of Color – Celebrate!” will run for the duration of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration.
I’ve only seen it once… but excited to see the new version when we visit in August 2015! Wish we could be there July 17… oh my, the Magic!!! #Disneyland60
I… was not expecting this. I got emotional just reading the concept. Can. Not. WAIT!
🙂
Does that mean World of Color will be down for five months?
Jeni – The current “World of Color” show returns March 13.
Aghhhh so exciting!
What a great way to honor a man that has had an impact on so many people.
What a neat way to pay tribute to Walt and Disneyland’s legacy. I’m hoping I can get out there in August in time for the D23 Expo!
