According to the Internet, National Bubble Bath Day is celebrated today. Whenever I think of baths, I think of the “perennial houseguest” Uncle Orville over at Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park who is seen here, prior to the attraction officially opening, bathing sans bubbles in 1974.
Here’s to a day of pampering and relaxation … and hopefully a little privacy too. (Poor Uncle Orville never seemed to get any.)

No privacy a’tall around this place! 🙂
Love it!
No Privacy around here at all!
Awesome photo. I enjoy how you can see the missing midsection of the character.
It’s Cousin Orville,not Uncle
Hi Tim. After double checking with another Disney Librarian, I can confirm that it was Cousin Orville the 1970s script when the attraction opened and then changed to Uncle Orville in the 1993 script. In the 1960s he was referred to as Uncle Orville. It appear his name was changed for the opening at Walt Disney World, and then changed again after the rehab in the 1990s. To me he’ll always be Uncle Orville, but to some he’ll always be Cousin Orville.
The Carousel of Progress opened in 1975, not 1974. It is having its 40th anniversary this year.
You’re correct Evan, it did open in 1975. (Next week to be exact.) This photo was taken pre-opening in 1974.
