Just last night, award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris hosted The Oscars® on ABC. So, where will his next big hosting gig take place? The Disneyland Resort!

Today, we’re pleased to announce that Neil will be joining Mickey Mouse as host of the all-new “World of Color – Celebrate!,” opening May 22 at Disney California Adventure park as part of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration. Neil, himself a fan of Disney Parks, will bring his unique style of humor and charm to this special edition of the popular “World of Color” show.

“World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” illuminates the night in a celebration of the unparalleled imagination of Walt Disney. Mickey Mouse and Neil take us on a fun-filled and inspirational journey, exploring Walt’s decades-long legacy of memorable animated moments and his dream of Disneyland park, and culminating in a madcap musical tour of Disneyland Resort attractions as you’ve never seen them before!

Since its premiere in 2010, “World of Color” has amazed millions of Disney California Adventure park guests using a groundbreaking “stage” of nearly 1 full acre of engineered superstructure, longer than a football field. Nearly 1,200 programmable fountains and a vast underwater grid with more than 20,000 points of control send water to heights of up to 200 feet; shooting higher than Mickey’s Fun Wheel. The show employs nearly 30 high-definition projectors to take the audience on a journey through some of Disney’s most beloved animated moments.

The all-new “World of Color – Celebrate!” is just one part of our dazzling Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, which kicks off May 22 along with the new “Paint the Night” parade and the fully-immersive new “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular. We’ll have even more to tell you as we get closer, so keep following Disney Parks Blog and join the conversation with hashtag #Disneyland60.

  • Hi Kathleen! Let mee clear this up for ya (or anyone else)

NPH will be in every show, because they shot video of him and Mickey for the water projections. kind of like how Jiminy Cricket hosts Wishes at Disney World and Julie Andews hosted “Remember Dreams come True” for the 50th anniversary. So to sum up, when you see this new World of Color show, you are GUARANTEED to see Neil for as long as this show runs. He can never get tired as a water projection! 😉

  • So just making sure, Neil won’t actually be there on May 22nd? just a video footage of him presenting World of Color?

  • Wow i am so excited for this! This will be so amazing! Will more scenes be added to the show? Will there be more nighttime shows? Is the fastpass and the dining packages still be available? I can’t wait!

  • Love the “LEGENDARY” comment made by Shawn a few posts back. haha! I can’t wait! I love NPH! He’s awesome!

  • Well, wouldn’t you know it, May 22 is MY 60TH BIRTHDAY! So I guess I’ll be seeing you then….AND on July 17th. There’s no place like home at the Happiest Place on Earth!!!

  • I actually just got back from Disneyland a couple days ago, and saw all the renovating going on, and I wasn’t disappointed in the least! I’m coming back in June to see everything all decked out, I’m so excited—if I couldn’t see the 50th when I was a little girl, now’s my chance to see the 60th! 🙂

  • Good one Shawn Slater on your answer to Bob. Seems I have heard that before.

    • 😉

  • Excited to have Neil Patrick Harris co-host the new World of Color show!

  • As I understand it, Neil will be recorded once then he will be edited into the show that will play the entire run; not a live feed every night or anything.

    • V.J. – That’s correct.

  • I expect this to be a fantastic addition to WoC and the 60th anniversary of DL. NPH is such a great Disney fan.

  • He already is a great fixture as the voice of Califonia Screamin’!

  • We were able to watch him speak at the Candlelight Processional. He is an amazing speaker but the best part was at the beginning. His children were in the crowd and when he acknowledged them his daughter yelled “Hi Daddy” is the sweetest voice. The whole crowd went aw. It was adorable.

  • I think pairing NPH with the World Of Color is genius. That should be an exciting show. I can’t wait to see it!

    • Bob – It’s going to be legen… wait for it… DARY!

  • He’s hosting it via satellite? Or will he be there each night on busy weekends? How does that work exactly?

    • Thor – Neil will be prominently featured in video footage as part of the show.

  • Will it be broadcast again just like the grand opening in 2010?

    • Robin – There are currently no plans to broadcast the show, but you’ll be able to catch “World of Color – Celebrate!” nightly throughout the entire Diamond Celebration.

  • Is he only hosting opening night on May 22nd and select nights going forward or every night for a certain period beginning May 22nd? Can you please clarify? Thank you.

    • Jonathan – Neil will be prominently featured in video footage as part of the show, beginning May 22 and continuing with every performance of “World of Color – Celebrate!” during the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration.
