Yesterday we shared some of the first images of the newly reshaped Central Plaza area (the space between the end of Main Street, U.S.A. and Cinderella Castle) at Magic Kingdom Park.

The unveiling is the first milestone in a multi-phase project that will include sculpted gardens, new pathways, and more in this area. Be sure to check out the gallery of images above. How lovely is this area turning out to be? I can’t wait to visit again and take photos of the charming new fountains!

  • when they announced 24 hour for Disneyworld this year

  • @Jami, Thanks, that is what I figured it was.

  • I absolutely love the landscaping and FP+ viewing areas. Can’t wait to see this in person. Only one concern, are the light poles going to affect the castle views during the fireworks? I saw several pictures someone took during the fireworks a few nights ago and it looks like the the light poles somewhat obstruct the view of the castle from the FP+ viewing area.

  • So pretty! And so very regal! I hope they place lots of benches in this new area.

  • I was in MK last fall, and I can’t recognize the geography from the photos! 🙂
It’s certainly opened up the Main St.->Tomorrowland route, and should make Main St. feel more like a town than a street.

  • Hi Jennifer! I’m trying to find a way to contact one of your marketing people? Can you help me? We were the 1 millionth visitors to the Festival of the Lion King this past September! What a blast we had! One of your marketing gals said she would email me pictures from that awesome day but I never received anything:( Is there any chance someone could track those down? I’d be so grateful!

  • Traveled last week to Walt Disney World Resort and spent a day at The Magic Kingdom Park. These new spaces are so appealing , as well as perfectly laid out for parade viewing.
It was wonderful to see the magical beauty that the imagineers have created in these new areas.
Can’t wait to get back for a visit to see the finished Central Plaza space.

    • Thanks for the good review, Ellen! I’m happy you liked it.

  • @ Mitchell, It isn’t real grass. It’s astro turf. It’s the fastpass plus fireworks area.

  • Wow, what an improvement! It looks like a park (within a park).

    • I totally agree!

  • Jennifer, in the fenced in area with the concrete pathways and the circular planters is that real grass, and are people going to be allowed to stand/sit there for the parades and fireworks?

  • It’s like you’re in another world! Can’t say anything, other than, “gorgeous!”.

    • It’s amazing, isn’t it? 🙂

  • I can’t wait to get photos of all the new character statues in this new area. I usually make it down from Michigan once or twice every year, so I hope to get shots of this area very soon.
