As you may have seen on ABC-TV’s “Good Morning America,” we shared some true Disney magic in winter-weary Boston by creating a warm summer scene, inspired by Olaf’s “In Summer” dream, to officially announce that the “Coolest Summer Ever” is coming to the Walt Disney World Resort. And it all begins with a Disney Parks Blog reader favorite – a 24-hour event at Magic Kingdom Park – during Memorial Day weekend, the traditional kickoff to summer.
Olaf, who is the official host of our “Coolest Summer Ever,” surprised Bostonians near historic Faneuil Hall with a 20-foot wide beach that included a Cinderella Castle made of sand, beach chairs, beach balls and other reminders of summer fun at Walt Disney World Resort. Check out how it all came together in the video below.
We’re kicking off the summer with an all-night party at the Walt Disney World Resort. Magic Kingdom Park will be open to guests for 24 hours of nonstop fun from 6 a.m.-6 a.m. May 22-23. Guests are invited to dress to show their Disney Side while a selection of favorite attractions, entertainment, merchandise, food and beverages will be on tap all night long to celebrate the start of the “Coolest Summer Ever” at Walt Disney World Resort.
For the “Coolest Summer Ever,” we’re already planning experiences you won’t want to miss. Here’s an early look at some of the highlights:
- Frozen Fun – “Frozen” Summer Fun LIVE will bring Princess Anna, Queen Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf with citizens of Arendelle appearing daily at Disney’s Hollywood Studios June 17-Sept. 7.
- Cool Thrill Rides – Guests will find thrills from mild to wild to out of this world in all four Walt Disney World parks. Choose from Seven Dwarfs Mine Train plus Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom Park; Test Track and Soarin’ at Epcot; Expedition Everest at Disney’s Animal Kingdom; Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Twilight Zone™ Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
- Star Wars Weekends – Guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios find stars from another galaxy during Star Wars Weekends May 15 – June 14.
- New Restaurants and Shopping – Throughout the summer, new waterfront dining and boutique shops flow into the Downtown Disney shopping/dining/entertainment district as its transformation into Disney Springs continues.
- Epcot Entertainment – New entertainment acts will appear throughout Epcot World Showcase, which also brings a fresh summery twist on fan favorite, Voices of Liberty.
- A Splash at Water Parks – A cool new deal doubles the fun at Disney’s two iconic water parks – Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach.
There’s more to come, so keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog or visit Disneyworld.com/CoolestSummerEver for future details and information.
Also, later this morning, Erin will be sharing a special announcement from Disneyland Resort right here on the blog.

Does anyone know about TS’s extended their hours? I know I saw Crystal Palace would be opened at 6 AM on May 22nd. But what about late evening?
Did the park reach capacity last year for the 24 hour event?
i got a ticket for friday (will use it for hollywood studios) and saturday(will use it for magic kingdom as i’ve got dining reservations), without park hopper option, in order to get to Magic Kingdom at 2 or 3am on saturday, shall i get another ticket or that one i’ve already purchased may serve and then can i return at 9 or 11 am on that very same day
I am so excited. My family will already be there and to know that I can ride rides at 3am is even more exciting!!!! I cannot wait! 🙂
Our children’s favorite part of last year was the ice skating. Is it not going to be there? We can’t find it in the lineup.
Since the “Tomorrowland” movie debuts May 22 as well, will there be any special events tied to that?
Is this a regular park ticket or do you have to pay extra for this? How does the ticket situation work for this event?
Where will the ice skating rink and ice skating show take be located this year? I can’t find it on the event map! Very excited!!
The sand castle is really nice. Will it be on display in Boston for a few more days or was it only around during the GMA segment?
I’m hoping there’s a live cam again this year, even with it’s strange problems (ex. camera feed going from color to black and white and then stopping completely during Fantasmic at Disneyland) it was nice to be able to watch from home wishing I could be there……it’d be even cooler with sound too! 🙂
Is this a separate ticketed event or can annual passholders get in without additional purchase? I’m so excited never attended a 24 hour party…this is so AWESOME!!!!!
So excited for Frozen Summer Fun Live! To be back! I really really hope that the ice skating rink has the cousins ice demonstration again! It was AWESOME. Is the rink and show going to be there?
This sounds so fun! However, I won’t be able to make it to the all-night party. Can we look forward to a fun event to close the “coolest summer ever”? Maybe something Labor Day weekend?
regular one ticket
Will there be another Live Cam to watch the event like last year?
The current Anna and Elsa sing a long show at HS is only posting show times through May 31. Will the new show be at the same location or is this a different show entirely? Also with one ending May 31 and the other starting June 17, what about the beginning of June? We will be at HS on June 15! Will we get to see an Anna and Elsa show????? Please help!
We are so excited for the 24 hour event and Frozen Summer Fun. Loved Frozen Summer Fun last year. Will there be a snowground again this summer? That was a great place to cool down and so much fun!
I was sooo hoping it would be earlier this year. Memorial Day weekend was so hot last year we couldn’t last the 24 hours.
Do I have to buy an extra ticket? or is the regular one? Thank you
When you say guests are invited to dress to show their Disney Side, does this mean adults can wear costumes to the park like last year?
Hi Joanna, yes – you can join the party dressed in Disney costume. And like last year, costumes should be child-friendly and adhere to park guidelines.
VERY excited about this announcement. We have been waiting and waiting for it!!
What about the ice skating rink and show?
I am very excited to hear this news. Will the ice rink also be there?
Exciting news as we will be visiting from the UK during these dates. We actually have a booking for the Tomorrowland dessert party on this date (22nd) will re all nighter affect our booking at all do you know? Thanks in advance
What about the ice skating and the cousins on ice from last year? That was one of the best experience you all offered and my kids are dying to come back and skate again!! 🙁
Tom, Last year you offered a special Frozen VIP package that included special parade seating, a dessert party and special sing along seating. Will that be offered again this year? Thanks!
