Rare Time-Lapse Video Shows Disneyland Park Construction

As we prepare to celebrate 60 years of memories and magic during the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, we’ve been looking back at key moments in our history – times when Disneyland pushed the limits of what was possible and created new, innovative experiences for our guests. Searching our archives, we came across this amazing time lapse footage of Disneyland construction. Blink and you might miss some amazing moments!

My favorite parts are the clock tower on the Main Street Train Station being lifted into place and the first guests flowing through the turnstiles. What are yours?

  • I always love seeing time-lapse video of Disneyland’s construction. I’m really looking forward to the 60th anniversary celebration.

  • using the “sprinkler” timer in the camera gave me a chuckle. It was also interesting to see the crowds gather in Town Square for Walt’s dedication as well as following the parade of cars up Main St. to the castle.

  • Erin,

I really enjoy these glimpses into the past that you share from time to time. I hope that we get to see many more during this special year. Disneyland and the Disney company have enjoyed unbelievable success and we certainly hope that continues and in this fast-paced world we live in it is easy to lose sight of the past. May we always remember this wonderful place sprang from the rich imagination of one man, Walt Disney and may we always respect his values and traditions.

  • That last shot of everyone pouring down Main Street, that’s just perfection right there! Love it, thanks for sharing.

  • I think one of those construction workers could be my grandfather. I only know that he worked on the Matterhorn and some of the original buildings. So fun to try to spot him. Thanks!

  • Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is all I say to sum up how amazing this is. WOW! 😀
