We’ll officially kick off the beginning of summer here at the Walt Disney World Resort on May 22, with a 24-hour celebration at Magic Kingdom Park.
If you’re heading to our park to join in on the fun, here are 24 suggestions on how you can make the most of this year’s event.
- Show your #DisneySide by wearing a costume. (Check out the guidelines here).
- Join your favorite heroes from “The Incredibles” in the #IncrediblesSuperDanceParty in Tomorrowland, starting at 9:30 a.m.
- Join the “Move It, Shake It, Dance & Play It!” Street party to celebrate the start of summer. The first celebration begins at 9:30 a.m.!
- Find the paw prints of “Lady and the Tramp” hidden somewhere on Main Street, U.S.A.
- Have breakfast in the park. Mickey Waffles, anyone?
- Challenge yourself to get as many photos with Disney characters as possible. The My Disney Experience App will have the latest on appearance times.
- Catch the fun of the Royal Majesty Makers, who appear throughout New Fantasyland during the day.
- Attend the “Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade,” which features floats from “Tangled,” “Brave” and many more.
- Get your picture with Cinderella’s Pumpkin Coach.
- May 22 is also the opening date for the film “Tomorrowland.” Celebrate with a ride through Space Mountain or the Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover.
- Check out the latest Disney merchandise. Memento Mori, a new spot devoted to Haunted Mansion-inspired gifts, is a great place to start.
- Catch the patriotic flag retreat on Main Street, U.S.A., promptly at 5 p.m.
- Check out the latest additions to the park, including Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and the interactive queue at Peter Pan’s Flight.
- Join the late night dance parties in your pajamas. That’s what Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Chip, Dale and Goofy will be wearing!
- Enjoy the “Celebrate the Magic” castle projection show.
- Gather together for “Wishes” fireworks at Cinderella Castle.
- Change costumes at the 12-hour mark. Maybe a “hero” look for the day and a “villain” look at night?
- 24 hours means a lot of time for character autographs. How many can you get?
- Enjoy a late-night snack at the park. Popcorn or Dole Whip?
- Take pictures wearing as many different Mickey Ear hats as you can.
- See how many Hidden Mickeys you can find in 24 hours.
- Catch two showings of the “Main Street Electrical Parade.”
- Enjoy your favorite Disney attractions all day (and night) long.
- Take an early morning family photo – if you can make it the full 24 hours!

Do you know what time the ticket booth opens? What time will the park most likely hit capacity, if it does?
Also, will there be a blog meet-up at this event?
I am in the same boat as Cat – I get emails from every Disney source except AP. Is there any way to get the 24-hour merchandise before we arrive? If someone can provide a link, it would be greatly appreciated!!! 🙂
I am going to be there for this event and imagine it is very popular. Do you think there is a chance of the Magic Kingdom being filled to capacity? I have an annual pass… and was planning on going back and forth between the party and the resort to make sure I have plenty of energy! Now I am just wondering if that could end up being a problem.
Do I just purchase a regular park ticket for this event?
As an annual pass holder I have been on hold for over 30 minutes trying to find out why I did not receive any emails regarding the 24 hour event. I just now realized that I get emails from DVC, my Disney experience and every other source but not the annual pass site. No cast member seems to know how to answer this question, can someone please direct me to the link to purchase the 24 hour kick off merchandise.
AP members just got an email that contained a link to purchase the t-shirt for the 24-hour event. If you’re not looking for it on the bottom of the email, you might miss it, though…
I know the park opens at 6am that day. I have not been to 24 hour Disney before. What time should I plan to arrive to be sure to get in? I was thinking 5am?
Really hope Pain/Panic will be there again this year for Meet & Greets. When we went to get in line for them last year, the line was already closed. We even went over there earlier in the overnight hours too. These are some of our favorite sidekicks and would love to have an opportunity to meet them and get our photo with them!
Love these events! I made the 24hrs. last year and I’m going as Thor for this year! So excited! 😀
Sounds like a cool costume. I hope you have a blast!
Will there be limited edition T shirt and pin like last year? Also, will Annual Passholders get a chance to purchase them before the event like last year?
We hope to have an update on merchandise soon. Stay tuned!
Any plans of merch specific to this event other than just a t shirt and a pin?
Kick off the 24-hour event by attending a 4:00 a.m. blog meet-up!
That will be our first full day at WDW…we can’t wait! I’m not sure our five-year-old daughter will last 24 hours, but we have a lot planned for that day already! Starting off with breakfast at Chef Mickey’s, lunch at BOG, meeting princesses, Festival of Fantasy fastpass, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, then dinner at Cinderella’s before the electrical parade. We are going to need a major nap!
Sounds like you have an amazing day planned! Don’t forget about the MyDisneyExperience App to help plan it all!
We are going to be in Disneyland for the 60th Celebration! Please post a 24hour list for Disneyland 🙂
Where can we take a picture with Cinderella’s Pumpkin Coach?? So exited :)!!!!
Can you reveal what special characters will be appearing during the day?
Stay tuned – we hope to have an update on entertainment soon!
Maybe by meeting a few villains in the wee small hours of the morning? Please tell me there will be a villain meet-and-greet!
We are planning to stay the whole 24 hours!! We got exciting things planned- Keys to the Kingdom, Pirates and Pals Cruise, Be Our Guest dinner. It is going to be a fantastic!!!
I hope you have a terrific time, Kevin.
Great List! Hope we get one for Disneyland! 😀
